Prager,
I've read those articles and many like them in the past. What I state in my post is simply my personal experiences and opinions. I'm not claiming to be an expert in the great gonad debate, everyone's got different opinions. I've never had an issue from altering a dog, nor have I personally met anyone else IRL who had problems with it. I've seen more problems result from leaving pets intact.
I think it's a personal decision. I don't think it should be regulated by local, state, or federal agencies. I do not believe there should be a tax on intact animals because I don't think it is constitutional to tax what an animal is born with. Might as well tax intact humans then.
Everything else I've already said, no sense in beating the issue to death by overstating my stance any more than I probably already have.

I think Yoshi's idea of a vasectomy is a good one. Why hasn't anyone explored that as an option? Would it be too expensive? Or have they?
Seems like there is nothing to it in humans. Hah, I know, I'm female, my husband would say otherwise. He still cries about it 20 years later.

As far as vasectomy I think it has been done to sheep(over seas)
"I'm pro spay/neuter with pet quality animals. I think that unless the animal has something to contribute to the gene pool, he/she is better off not having the opportunity to procreate.
I feel the same way about humans, but that's another topic altogether"
With this quote I don't agree completely with the first statement but as far as the humans being altered that shouldn't breed...I am all for that!!!

And who decides?

I get charged $150 fee per rabies shot because I allowed my dog to keep all the equipment he was born with. How silly of me!

by LAVK-9 on 20 April 2010 - 17:04

.LOL
Thought this was fitting

Who decides pet quality?
So i should neuter and spay my Tom and 2 GSD pets? why. They have lived just fine for years in my home. Why put them through an unessecary surgery.
Or should I Spay or neuter my Workign GSD male and Mali female because im not sure if i will breed either yet?
Who decides?
If owners simply took responsibility and educate themselves this problems wouldnt exist nearly to the degree it does.
There are two many deer out there and they are the number 1 killer animal in the US. Why dont we spay and nueter them?
This just amazes me. Anyone whom has knows me on here knows I have dedicated a lot of time, energy, and money to help rescues. Do i beleive in there spay and neuter all dogs policy? absolutely not. I dont beleive they should be bred however i do not beleive they should be put through an abrupt surgery for no reason through already trialing times. Or the policy most recues carry that pups must be done before 9 months of age.
I also dont beleive in many of these uneccessary shots vets and people push on our pets. I vacinate all of my animals and simply pull a blood titer every year. Its funny my house male hasnt had a rabies shot in years yet he still titers high enough not to need one. Its all about the money and another way for people to prey on our ignornce as owners.
Its amazing the increased levels of cancer and other devistating abnormal diseases now occuring more and more frequently in dogs and i would attribute at least a percentage of this problem to pumping our dogs full of uneeded shots and or sergurys etc....
I see vetrinary care no different than if i was to take my truck in to get the brakes replaced. The dealership wants to charge me 1400$ for the repair. I can do it myself for 300$ with just as good of work. Because of educating myself. Plus when you want in all the sudden you have 20 other things that are wrong and they will take advantage of you in a heart beat for that buck if they can.
People really shoudl educate themselves and take responsibility for there animals.
