I went to the website and first of all, it is very ugly, in my opinion. Those mauve colored "things" look more like "Mothman" than "angels". They look like a creepy pestilence, spreading out over the desert before dusk? ... something you'd hear about on Art Bell's show.
Every picture I looked at looked bad.. grainy, out of proportion and NOT attractive, at all. What really gets me is that almost without exception, the faces.. human and canine.. look SAD and strangely haunting. My intuition says that something is wrong.... This does not look like a happy family, to me. I'll leave it at that. ( Does anyone else see this, too? )

Didn't surprise me in the least. IME the people who wave the God card most in public are the ones most likely to be the most foul and nasty in private.

Excellent post, DDR-DSH. I only hope everyone in the US on this site reads your entire post. Folks, dog breeders are under siege at this point in time. If you want to see what can and does happen to good people, google the words, "Murder Hollow Bassets".
Sadly, it's getting to the point that simply breeding a litter, no matter how carefully researched, makes you lower than dirt in the eyes of a certain group of people. That group is doing everything in its considerable power to change the mindset of the general public. There is a new term being bandied about - "Breedism". This word is being used to suggest that anyone that prefers a given breed of dog over a mix is akin to someone who looks down upon a given group of people because of the way they look. It's insidious and young kids are being hammered constantly with these messages.

The AKC registers over 1,000 GSD litters a month, which probably averages nearly a 100,000 GSD's annualy, not even counting the ones imported. That's only the registered litters. And that's only one single breed among several popular ones. For example, labrador retriever litters registered are even double that!Wondering where these figures come from. I was trying to find information on the AKC site, and I couldn't find GSD-specific data. I did find some all-breed information that would seem to make these figures unlikely:
November’s dog registrations in the month were 61,223 vs. 68,155 in 2005. For the entire year of 2006, dog registrations were 5 ½% less than 2005. The month’s litter registrations of 32,894 vs. 34,665That's from the AKC Board minutes for January 2007, for all breeds. I'm trying to find more recent data, but haven't yet.
Thanks!

After looking at the information that quickly comes up in a search, I'm wondering if AKC isn't making raw numbers available as easily? In years past AKC listed raw numbers along with breed rank. I'm sure such statistics can be used as a weapon by someone with an agenda. The statistics I found were:
www.akc.org/reg/litter_stats.cfm

I would most likely say they sold this dog . You could always post on CL asking for help in finding her. See what pops up. You'd be surprised at the activity CL gets. I wouldnt in any way contact the owner. Or ask the Sheriffs office to contact the owner for you and see if they still have the dog. As a last resort contact the rescue groups in the area and vets. Thats how I got involved actually with rescue. I was looking for one of my pups.
People are too crazy these days. At least in years gone by a threat was just that. Now, they actually take action.
