There are really some beautiful Liver and tans out there. there are also some extremely horrible looking
livers out there that look nothing at all like Shepherds. I don't like the Idea of putting one down if it is a healthy pup and
can get a good home, but since you can't rely on ones doing the spay/neuter as promised, I would spay/neuter the pup
while it was my decision to make. I am not sure of all these Unhealthy issues you speak of here on spaying/neutering at a young age besides obesity, and bitch stripes, but that is no big deal. Obesity can be controlled pretty well if the owner really wants to and a bitch stripe is nothing to worry about to protect the breed.
After a couple of incidents with People and their promises of Just wanting a pet and didn't want to breed, with a spay/neuter agreement they bred or allowed their dog to get bred and then called Me up wanting help to get rid of the puppies in one case and help sell them in another.
very aggravating.
I have neutered pups and they made great pets, and lived pretty average lives. 10-14 years old. Not all German shepherds of course.
So please enlighten me as to the Unhealthy part of the spay/neuter saga.

I have never seen a Liver or Blue G.S in all the clubs i have been too but that is not to say there are not any i guess there will be To keep the ball rolling, i believe a lot of people breed from these dogs simply to make money, some do not care about what colour they are, or if they are graded for the Joints or anything else some will still breed from them,
For me i will not ever own a Blue or liver coloured dog so the chance of breeding from it is non existent,
I will not breed from any dog myself unless it is ScH3, Hip & Elbow scored and KKL1 or KKL11,Then i would consider it But i also will never buy in a dog with those credentials, i have to own it from a Pup and do it myself but thats my way

Yes Axel vom Banholz is the sire , the Grandfather is Dasty von der Berger Hochberg.
The Dam is Alice van't Hennecot.
This bitch is in the UK as i found the website and contacted the lady who now owns her. Obviously we all have differing opinions on the liver colour but i personally think this bitch is beautiful.

Can i just say whilst i am here that this is my opinion , i was just making a statement that i thought the bitch was beautiful regardless of her colour. I would hate to think that this poor lady who owns this dog will get bombarded with insults from the people that do not like livers or any other colour. She was a genuinely nice lady .

Here's the parents to the liver sable baby boy.

You can spay/neuter all of the faulty dogs and off colors you want, but 50% of their littermates will also carry the genes, both parents are proven carriers, and 2 of the grandparents are to blame as well. Even if each parent is bred to a non-carrier, every time they'll be producing around 50% of their pups as new carriers too!! Imagine how many dogs that can be with the really popular studs out there. With people being more reasonable & open-minded these days, they aren't hiding these faulty colors as much anymore, and I'm seeing blue & liver is still quite common in the European lines, blue is fairly common in the American showlines as well. Even have seen the occasional white from pure German lines, so not matter how much someone culls, kills, spays, neuters, whatever - these genes will still come down for decades and decades down the lines. :o) How someone chooses to handle it when it does happen, is totally up to them.... Although I would certainly hope someone would choose a pet home over death.
