I understand that people seem to feel and they're being "noble" if they breed dogs "for the dog" with complete disregard of money.....I personally feel this is a bit unwise.....Just my own opinion. Guess some people have more money then sense......

Animals, especially domestic animals, that we intentionally breed  (or sometimes unintentionally breed) should be properly cared for, socialized, trained and given adequate affection.......but the brag  of the "non - backyard breeder", is "I do it for the breed and not for the money" I feel is fool hearty.

Sitasmom,
SOME of us have an enormous amount of "sense" in this breed and dog world.......without a never-ending money pot.
Some of us actually have everyday jobs that we must go to....so that we may afford (somehow) to fulfill our "passion" in the sport(s).......that NO WAY makes us foolish!?....and it doesn't make us "noble", in my (our) eyes.
it has actually,... helped make us successful in what we love to do..........
And, to insinuate...that specific "breeder types" don't bestow proper care, socialization or adequate affection upon our dogs.....I'll just say,...you obviously have mis-spoken.

If breeders "choose" to breed for other reasons, and one reason is to potentially earn a financial income from their dogs?!....that is their prerogative.......
....it's just not one of my personal reasons.

Despite disagreements and clarifications galore, this is a very illuminating thread!

Hello Silbersee, congrats on your litter.

I have actually done quite a bit of research on "Chuckie" (her son Hudson was in Alabama for a while), as I am hoping to get my first w/l dog soon and I tend to over analyze and research endlessly.

What I have found so far is that she kicked quite a bit of ass on a pretty high level in Germany, including coming out tops at a regional all breed trial.

Has produced 2 BSP participants, a German Vice Universal Sieger, a V rated and noted pronounced dog in the 2009 Ulm Sieger show and several titled and KKL1 progeny. As well as her own German V rating and KKL1.

What I'm getting at is that I love programs based on females and is there any chance to get on the list for one of these girls if they "turn" out.

Just checking,

Chuckie is a great producer. I own one of the V rated BSP participants and he is a super dog.

Hello alaman,  thank you for your reply. I assume that you own Hutch or Hudson and I know that they are both super dogs.

As I said, I tend to reasearch and analyze endlessly and I have not found any female in the U.S. even remotely approching the accomplishments of this bitch.

I even wonder how many in Germany can match 2  V BSP from one litter. Are there any others?

Also, it is none of my business, but how does a female like this leave Germany. It must have been at a very high price, The much mentioned "six figures".

Always learning something new,

Rik

Hey Rik,
Alaman owns Hudson who I have met personally last year at the BSP. I have known Hutch for a bit longer. He is still owned by Dennis and was shown at the BSZS again this year, plus he is also qualified for the BSP. It will be tough for him though, since Javir is in the competition (love him too) and a couple others. There is also a full sister, Iffy (not registered here on the PDB) out of a repeat breeding between Karn and Chuckie who is still owned by her breeder. She will probably produce his next competition dog for him. Iffy was V-5 under Wilfried Scheld.
Chuckie certainly stamps her offspring. They are unmistakingly hers! Funny thing is that she really has more daughters than sons! So, I am truly hoping that breeders here in this country utilize Hudson in their breeding programs. He is a true asset!
Here is a photo of Chuckie with her son Onyx vom Silbersee, SchH3 KKL1a who turned two years old today (9-18). Sister Olympia is the one in my avatar (as an 8 month old).

Silbersee  and some others:
OK this one is going to be little rougher.
  GSDfamily
asked how much should be a stud fee for specific stud. It was a question about money and thus me trying to help, I gave the answer about money. That does not mean that I do not love dogs!
Also 7.5+- is AKC figure for GSD breed litter size. Also I did not say that you can make $9750 PROFIT(?!) on an average litter. INSTEAD I am saying that: If you can not raise a litter for $9750 then you must be doing something wrong! Read my entry above again.

Silbersee.
I resent you calling  people like me a puppy mill or back yard breeder.  I love the dogs so much that I made it into my business. Thus Business and love of GSD goes together here.  I am not getting rich on it. Trust me on that. But I need to sustain myself  in order to provide top working dogs to general public, S&R, and law enforcement . If I would want to make real money I would work in convenience store I often say, or be a geologist , which is my original profession.
If you are unable or unwilling to get  payed for breeding the dogs enough to make few bucks, that is nice, but then do not justify your love of the breed or ineptness to make money by throwing stones on people like me.  I  have never understood and never will, and I am getting tired of self righteous, pompous, smartoholicks, in other words,  people like you, who believe that every professional breeder is a puppy mill. That is like saying that every teacher is a pedophile.  I pretty much guarantee you that there is a chance 1000:1 that I have done for the GSD breed more then you did.

I never knew anything to have an average price unless its a common item found anywhere, like as pack of chewing gum.
Stud prices?   What would you be willing to spend?
And who are you?    Who do you know?
Too many variables.
There is no average price.

I agree Two Moons.
But I am giving
just a rule of thumb.  Then come variables.
Ultimately price of anything is based on what a person is willing to spend on it at any present moment.
