Hmmm...just a thought....maybe clicker training would work well for her!

She's got a very nice reach at the trot. Lovely pictures!

Off Topic...

RFS is right, Luvdemdogs...I'm on a mobile broadband card from Verizon Wireless...for now.  It's actually for my hubby's laptop for when he's out of town, and he's getting ready to leave, so I'll be back on dial up...The card was free, with a two year agreement, and even with all the pic posting I've done, I've not even used 2 gigs of the available 5 gigs...But watch out if you go over that...They hit you with a .25 per MB overage fee, and it could get steep...The nice thing is you can check your usage.

I think when my hubby starts getting paid on this job, and I get everything caught up, I'll look into getting WildBlue...it's $49.95 per month, has a 7.5 gig limit, and while not as fast as the mobile Broadband...Won't tie up my phone.  I like the broadband, but with a two year commitment on either one, the $50 per month is easier to handle than the 60.

Crys,

Oakley looks great and is getting so big!  Your doing a great job with her!
Deb had some really good ideas as far as the cat goes.
I would not give a correction for fear though.
If you need any other help in posting pics I'll be glad to help also.
Anyone would thing that Oakley had no disadvantage at all by the pics....frolicking with the others the way she does she looks great.
And, she has very nice eyes.  Just wondering.....I, you and everyone else knows when you look into your dogs eyes and they look back at you, what you see and feel because of how they're looking back at you....so I'm just wondering, when you speak to Oakley and she looks at you because your talking to her do you see that in her eyes too?   Know what I mean?
Because, for me, sometimes I can read my dog by looking at her eyes, they have alot of expression.  Is it the same with Oakley I wonder because she doesn't use them like other dogs.

Keep up with the good work!
BTW, how was your fireworks display?

Hi Jen,

Yes, when you look into Oakley's eyes, you can read her...She can't see, but she is still very expressive.  She looks at me when I talk to her, and her eyes are searching, even though she gets her info from her ears and eyes.  It's awesome.

And the fireworks display was cool...I got some digital footage, but I don't know if I can send it or not...It's pretty large...490 MB.

I put the pic of the two laying together with the ball on my desktop...That's the pic I see when I start my computer!  The pic where I focused on her eyes...I love that one.

I have spent a lot of time on this thread today..Palerider is up to his usual filthy tricks again, and really ruining the board, along with the other dramas...People complained about the political threads, but I prefer those to the filthy stuff on here now.

I'll keep adding pics as I can, but I'm starting a new thread tomorrow, because this one's getting too hard to see for those on dial up, so I'll keep future ones shorter, and add new pics only once or twice before I start new ones.  That way, they'll be easier to see.

Crys,

You can send me what you have via email.  Mine can accept it.
Send pic's...whatever.

Palerider is hopefully a dust in the wind now.

Crys, this whole thing with you and Oakley just firms up a belief  I have always had.  We do not pick our dogs, the Lord picks them for us based on theirs and our needs.  When I picked (she picked me) my working line female, I could have sworn I had brought home the devil.  She was into everything, high drive on everything she did, run and jump into the recliner, tipping it over,, just everything.  I know if it had been anyone else who had got that dog, they would have relagated her to the back yard on a chain for the rest of her life or in a shelter.  But patience and love tamed her, she settled down by 6 months and now is the perfect obedience dog, and into Sch training and tracking.

In your case, you came along when Oakley needed you and only you and your family had hearts large enough to overcome her issues.  It was the Lord's intervention that we help his creations, as they help us.

To all who read this, think of situations like this, or when you picked a puppy that you know would have had a bad life if it hadn't been for you and you will understand.

Hi Crys and All,
I am finally back in God's country...wow, what a week of driving to Michigan and back. The night before I left, my 7 yr old male GSD had gastric torsion surgery and huge bloat, I almost lost him, I was at the vet till 11pm - 4am, he still hadn't woken up much, then we left Saturday evening taking him with us...he is doing better but still not eating well, have to switch him to a RAW diet...darn it was close...

I love the new photos of Oakley, I sure miss her...and I thank Crys for adopting her or I would have kept her for myself, but then I would have had to cut back on all the other rescues...so had to do what was best...darn...I am jealous and happy for Crys at the same time...OAKLEY was and IS a VERY SPECIAL PUP....

Anyhow, you had a chance at adopting her DebiSue...LOL...anyone could have filled out an application...(grin)

No bad cat experiences here...she walked right up to my barn cats, actually chased them when they took off, maybe another smell she didn't recognize around there???  My cats like puppies, just not the BIG GSD's...no problem or anything. They rubbed on her and she was fine...if you need pics uploaded Crys, just send them my way and I will post for ya...

It is tough catching up after 10 days gone, but it was awesome not having cell phone or email service....
Happy to be back. Catch ya'll later...

Steph,

Glad you're back on line!  Missed ya even if you came back just to give me a hard time and rub it in that I don't have Oakley!  I thought seriously about it but if I remember correctly you said I was too far away.  Actually, I wouldn't have minded the trip but have no vacation time left after my surgery and even if I did, I don't know that my car would have made it.  Just lucky it's getting me back and forth to work.  And, my husband would have divorced me if I brought another puppy home.  It's OK though, you gave her to a great home and Crys is sweet enough to keep us all updated on Oakley's progress.

Deb
