You are a Babe in Christ...

As newborn babes. The new birth has been spoken of in 1Pe 1:23. They are babes in Christ. Babes hunger for milk. Let babes in Christ earnestly

desire the sincere milk of the word. The spiritual milk which is without guile (Revised Version). This word, unadulterated, is the food upon which Christians must feed in order to grow.

Wesley's Notes

2:2 Desire - Always, as earnestly as new born babes do, 1Pet 1:3. The milk of the word - That word of God which nourishes the soul as milk does the body, and which is sincere, pure from all guile, so that none are deceived who cleave to it. That you may grow thereby - In faith, love, holiness, unto the full stature of Christ.

Shelly Stroll I humbly beg your forgivenss If I have seemed overbearing or judgemental.  I say praise the lord you are saved and stand ready at any moment to pledge my help and support in anything you should need. I pray you understand that the words I speak are not mine but those of Christ which I read in scripture! Sometimes I am to zealous but a fault God will temper !  But wickedness and deception are our enemies! Please forgive me if I have caused you any grief!

No offence taken, Raymond, no forgiveness from me warranted. I am happy to have another Christian resource to anser my stupid questions and set me straight when I get it wrong. Its a blessing. If nothing else, this whole thread, and some of the other messages I have read today, caused my Bibles to be open on the sofa... where they belong, instead of upside down on the bedstand and under a magazine on my desk.

Thanks again YR. I look forward to having another neat phone session. Maybe next time I will have something more worthwhile to contribute. :-)

I like my Everyday Life Bible, notes and commentary by Joyce Meyers.
Doesn't get any real-er than Joyce when it comes to explaining things in layman's terms. The citations are at the end of the verses mostly, or footnoted, so its easy to read right through. No, I am not reading it "in order". I skip around sometimes. Sometimes I just go out, sit under a tree, and open to the first page my fingers hit. Usually I hit something very relevent to what is going on in my (or somebody I care for's) life. Sometimes not, but I figure He sent me to that page for a reason and that I need to read it NOW, even if I can't figure why I'm there. Right now I am reading Kings. i have read it before, but I didn't get it enough the first time. They don't call me the poster-child of adult ADD for nothing. I sometimes wonder if/how He will find a way to use that silly disability for His work someday? Maybe as an example?
If this fluff-brained numb-skull can get it, anybody can?
He doesn't make mistakes. That's very comforting. Indeed it is.

As long as we are on the subject. I also like the little devotional books she publishes. Short and sweet.
Good Morning, this is GOD!
I will be handling all your problems today.
I will not need your help---
So, have a good day.
I love you.

Good stuff for ADD fluff-brains while we swill our coffee. :-D

I prefer to say that I am spiritual not religious.

I don't care what your faith is and unless I am asking to join, leave me alone and don't bother to pray for me.  I won't try to convert you if you won't try to convert me.  I have my own idea of what's out there.  I truly believe there is a higher being than me but I'm not buying into all the bible quotes.  I've seen too much ugliness done in the name of religion to believe god works in mysterious ways.  If you are happy with the god you have chosen to follow, yea!  I'm happy for you.  Keep your happiness to yourself.  I'm pretty damn happy myself.

Steve I couldn't agree more.  I cannot stand organized religion.  I get so sick and tired of different faiths telling us if we don't belieive in "their" god then we are doomed.  You can't win for losing...so if what everyone says is true, then we are all going to hell.

Regards,
Deb

A sigh of relief !ASHHHHH   Shelly one resouce I lean upon is the Way of the Master and Word pictures . I am sure you are familiar with way of the master. In the past years I have become acutely aware of just how filty I am in the sight of God without the blood of Jesus covering me! It serves me as a reminder of just how much I need him to keep me on that narrow road and off the wide one that leads to destruction!  Word Pictures is a ministry that examines the scriptures and applies them to our own lifes! And a man I love to listen to is Les Feldick! He is from Oaklahoma and a rancher who gives a wonderful bible study!  Again my regards and welcome home!

Blood hell
It seems we have a lot of Bible Punchers coming out of the wood work, that is okay with me, but keep it to yourselves, not to bother with the likes of me, I want to know none of it
I will tell you this much, When my two mates got a Snipers bullet he did not help them then whoever it is supposed to be
But i spotted the sniper B------d and i stalked him out, and when my Knife put an end to him, he was not helped ether, Plus the fact i was not religious before and never in my life time given the subject any thought at all so i do not need being converted in my old Age now, certainly my final bit on this thread i talk no more about Wars or killing on this Forum for i would rather leave the Forum than get into any arguments or even talk about it i do not need to remind myself of the past

I don't think I will ever think of myself as a Bible Banger. ;-) It probably is time to turn back more dog stuff and less religion here. I know how I used to feel about this sort of thing.

Shelly when you label christianity religion you clump it into the same category as all other false beliefs. Of all beliefs labeled religous none have one that rose from the dead and more than two dozen people  who wittnessed that return from death! Where are the miricles in the hindu religion;the muslim religion, shinto, buddist, all the eastern and near eastern religions of enlightenment? the mere fact that Israel is a nation now is proof positive that those things spoken of in the bible are true! Historians have positively confirmed that Jeus was a living figure and all prophecies concerning him were fulfilled ! I ask steve to tell us what did he expect God to do when his mates were killed? was god supposed to do what steve wanted him to do? steve has demanded that God do what Steve wants him to do all of steves life. Does Steve do what the dog demands. So steve you may want to shut my mouth with a knife or gun but I tell you this you may think that when you die you will just go to the garden but Jesus tells a different story! Would you care to say he is a liar? When you die and if you are still in your sin you are going to be cast into the lake of fire! Not my words but Gods. therefore I have told you and I am free of your blood!
