Molly is correct. As I stated, the club can properly "insulate" the OFFICIAL photographer from competition from others who would sell photos. NOTHING stated that Joe Blow could not photograph his own dog, a friend's dog, or club member's etc. For free.

why was some of these dogs given pronounced, let alone passed?

Because it is a Sieger Show, politics and lots of money. I have come to believe they really don't care about the temperment in the showlines. I do have to say that the males have come down to the correct size, everything else has not changed.

This was the first Sieger Show that I have attended and tried to look at things objectively

this is being objective?

What I read was generalizations without any back up that implies the protection work was inferior.  I was also there and saw some fabulous work done.

I think everyone needs to come to a common idea of what correct work is.

Show people DON"T care about temperament.....they just say they do......When I see respected showline breeders on this forum make comments to the effect that Timo was not used more because his pigment was not great nor did he throw great pigment , yet acknowledge he produced better than average showline temperament; the first thing i say is WTF????, Showlines need more pigment like I need a whole in my head, showlines need more temperament like a fish needs water. DUH!!!!!! These people could care less about temperament....their actions tell the story while some of you listen to their mouth....NOPE!!...They don't!!....Sorry!!

Show people could not perpatrate this fraud upon the breed if they did not have JUDGES that were willing to compromise.

Well said, chuckles.  Gustav, you need to change your statement to "most" showline people. I am a "showline person" and I thought most of the work (and I use that term loosely) was reprehensible.

Until the priorities of show people change we are unlikely to see any difference in the performance of dogs entered in Sieger Shows.  It is unfortunate that most show people do not value working ability and that is evident in the lack of interest in puppies that come from a breeding with working ability as a goal.  I have had several litters of puppies all of which could work and only one went to a working home.  That is a sad commentary on the current state of affairs.  It seems that the only criteria for show people is the ring.

If the values shifted we might have a chance at seeing more a substantial work ethic.  At this time I don't see that happening.

Like we GET the "official photographers' " photos when we order them... I have albums full of spaces where pix I ordered of my dogs at events over the years should be.  I got NONE from most of them.
