Mystee

I have told her I think she should get that fence up sooner than later. Hopefully she will soon. He does this with other dogs along other fencelines- dogs that aren't doing anything  but walking by or even just laying there. She said he can't be trusted around smaller dogs at all- but he does get along with my little guy (his pic is in that hunk post with my gsd, he's about 15 pounds) He has also grew up arpund my little one though, and they have got into it a time or two, never serious though. I will definitely tell her what you all are saying about the collar just making it worse, that makes alot of sense to me. thanks again

dogwise has a book called Click to Calm by Emma Parsons, see link above. It is 24.95. Your friend needs a copy. It goes into how to use the clicker in explicit detail, especially regarding reactive dogs.

I used these methods with my fear aggressive show line male. I take him to agility trials and am now working him in schutzhund. He passed his bh and rally novice. He works off leash at agility classes.

He used to charge the fence and try to go after other dogs. We rewarded him for looking at me instead of at dogs. We also had to learn not to LET him focus on the dogs and not let the intensity level increase.

It is also a slow process, but patience and training make a huge difference. Also, find a different trainer. E-Collars have a place but only with experienced trainers. Bad timing can make the situation much worse.

Good luck.
