First of all ........ I am NOT a stud owner,, never have been one, I am a breeder, so I see it from the female owners side 100% !!!

If I decide to breed to a certain stud, it is my desicion how I want the breeding to take place. If I want to drive, I KNOW that it might take a long time getting there.......if I want to fly with the female or ship her I KNOW that the stress of the travel might lower the chances of the litter to take.........if I want sperm shipped I KNOW that there is a good chances that the sperm might be ruined during travel and that the chance that the female takes are slimmer than with a life breeding. So it is up to ME to make up my mind where I want my risk to be.

That being said ......... I have to live with the trouble I might run into, not the stud owner !!! In my eyes it is not fair to blame the stud owner for mistakes that were made on either end. If I would not have wanted to take that risk I should have decided on a live breeding!!!

To me those are the risks you take as a breeder....... the same with absorbing puppies, c-sections, loosing puppies, etc. Being a breeder is not easy and we have to deal with a lot of risks. We cannot always expect everything to run smoothly and have full litters, that is not the way it works and we sure cannot blame the stud owner for things like that. If they ship out the sperm alive and kicking, they fullfilled their side of the aggreement. If UPS screwed it up, well sew UPS for not fullfilling their side of the contract !!

In Germany it is usual that the stud owners part is done if the female is confirmed pregnant. They do not even have to repeat the breeding if the puppies are all born dead, the female absobs them or if she only has one. The male got the bitch pregnant and that is all that counts. Everything else is courtesy of the stud owner, period !!

If you do not want to agree with that, then you should probably look into something else to do and quit breeding.
