Let us know if he needs a home please, If we can get him to Montana somehow, we can take him into rescue here too...I can get the neutering and heartworm done very inexpensively...
I wish I wasn't so far away to be able to come and get him asap....there are so many GSD's and other dogs in shelters right now, it is scary and yes they don't do well...I just got in a 10 month old female(see below) and luckily adopted her out right away... she is going this weekend after her spay job, luckily I got her when I did, cause she is just going out of heat!!!
