I was flea free for 8 years living in the country in Georgia until last year....most of my dogs had never experienced a flea.
Last year, somehow it happened. I had used Frontline Plus and BioSpot for years. Well, last year I spent thousands of dollars trying to get flea free again. I was about to give up hope...
The products I had been using had no effect.
New product called Comfortis saved me. It's a pill. I SAW the fleas dying...litterally falling off and dying within 30 min. It is similar to capstar but lasts longer. It's instant death and it kills them before they can reproduce. It is as expensive as Frontline Plus but it works. I bought three months worth and have not had any problems again. After they were gone I did not continue the treatment and will probably go back to one of the topicals as a prevetative...but if I see one it's another round of Comfortis for me.
Another option would be Capstar and Program used together.
These suggestions are for people who have lots of land and space to try and treat where aside from having a small plane fly over...there's no way on earth you can get complete coverage.
One word of caution, it has NOT been tested on pregnant animals, at least as of when I read up on it, so consider that.

Rx only....but you can order it online cheaper if the vet will give you a prescription. Not sure how much per dose. 6 pills cost me about 80 bucks at the vets but I saw it online for 55 per box. Bggest size of course.
