Liz, leave it alone... time will do your work for you and then some!  I know that you were stalked by it for some time on "User Comments", so do others.  It will not change, this fawning interest and civility with the WL, is but a short term blip... they will deal with it, when the time comes!

The dog in question?   Very nice!

Well all I can say is there is more than 1 child. I listen to kids do this shit all day long, it's tiresome. Someone needs to step up and act their age. Talk dogs and quit trying to be the last man to take a stab at the other. Soory all, I finally succumed to the flu everyone around here has has for weeks. My patience is pretty short at the moment.

All of the dogs posted are beautiful and a credit to the WL. Posting Erik so we all don't have to open the link.

Another lovely dog windwalker.

Thanks so much for all the great input here and in PMs and email. I do appreciate it. I agree with the genetic "bottleneck" being created and I am not opposed to putting an extremely correct WL dog into my program, but I want to take a few years research and do it right. Many, of the SL/WL crosses I have seen are ok dogs, but not really outstanding dogs. Every now and again I see one that knocks my socks off and I wanna know how they did it!

Indeed there are many WL out there of such beauty that it brings tears to your eyes. As well as there are show line dogs  which are a pleasure to look at, and are able to do the work.........but often just place in the mid V's at major shows and therefore are soon forgotten about.

Only one dog can win the WUSV, only one dog can win the Siegerschau. How likely is it that you will own that very dog? For the average breeder I feel that there is nothing wrong to breed for the 3 main goals: temperament (includes workingability), health, and beauty (includes structure). Easier said than done..... sure. Selection is the key, and it is the breeders responsibility to be nitpicky and to do it right. Well, I cant speak for everyone.... but at least that is my goal. Will I provide the next champion? Most likely not, but I can breed for a nice allrounder. A companion dog which is beautiful to look at, which has a lovely and lively temperament, who can do the job you throw at him........let it be a protector of house and family, a farmers helper, a dog competing in AKC sports, one who can possible trial at national level of SCHH, Ring, etc., a service dog, a playmate to the kids. Summa sumarum: a well balanced dog that is a pleasure to own and to be proud of!

Workingability is a big word, and when reading through the board it seems to have a different meaning to many people. To  me it means the ability of the dog to learn a task and to perform that task while building on the strong presence of its natural drives prey, defense and pack.

But back to beauty, here is the dog I like to have in my house...LOL
