These Illinois Politicians have nothing better to do!
The State is in trouble, financially. The Govenor is form the Coo Coo's nest trying to sell off The Senate Seat to the highest bidder, and will most probably be Impeached.
I do not like puppymills....The AKC is to blame for this too! They would register a frog and call it a dog for the registration money. START WRITING THOSE LETTERS!

This is in reaction to a busted puppy mill in Will County. In the papers, its being called "Chloe's Bill". Check out what the public is reading:

Makes it pretty hard to say you are against it.
Comment from one resident:
"It's about time!!!!! I am so glad to see that we are finally giving a voice to these poor helpless & abused animals. Now we all have to do our part to make sure this new law is supported by reporting any suspicious activity."
Big Brother is next door!
Pretty bad situation and this is definalty a knee jerk reation that we need to voice our opinions on. I work in the environmental industry, and there are "Environmental" Companies that get away with less regulation than this, and that affects the health of us all. Some of those did business with Hot Rod, as we have always called him. The Chicago Machine got him in office with the same tactics that have gotten him in trouble.

The only good big brother is one that is really your big brother by birth. Not born by government.

by Baldursmom on 25 January 2009 - 02:01
You have never meet my big brother! Born again dunkin' Christian. He took my son to the creation museum to see Adam interacting with the dinosaurs! Would not be so bad, but I majored in evolutionary biology, talk about some uncomfortable holidays! I do love him, though!
We were rarsed Catholic, I am currently in recovery (sprinkled, BTW)

With over 1 million dogs being euthanized a year, I question why anyone is breeding at all? With that said, I am for the Chloe Bill regardless of how it might or might not affect hobby breeders. I believe the entire concept of breeding dogs should be regarded as a highly monitored issue. I think the government should govern breeding - period! All of these homeless dogs are costing the government a lot of money - with county shelters and animal control officers and veterinarians on staff, etc... Breeding more dogs is just breeding more problems.
And don't get me started on the conditions of puppy mills or even the backyard/hobby breeders. I have seen it and it is atrocity to the human race. I know there are GOOD breeders out there and I realize that some of them really do care about the puppies and the parents of the puppies but I still question how anyone could breed more dogs, when so many dogs are homeless. For each dog that is bred - that is one less home for one who is already here.
And to organizations such as the AKC - I say shame on you. The AKC is motivated only by money. If they weren't, they would stop registering puppies that are from known puppy mills - like all the dogs at Petland. The AKC should re-think their competitions and allow altered dogs to enter and win. A million dogs a year are euthanized - that should be a sobering figure for anyone who really cares about dogs at all. And, it should make everyone question why we aren't being more stringent with our breeding laws.

Give me a break. Under this law, two major perpetrators of producing poor quality dogs get off scot-free: the completely uneducated backyard breeder, and pet stores who have their puppies shipped in from out of state by brokers. EVERY quality breeder will be adversely affected by this law.
As for not breeding dog in this economy- I know breeders who are skipping bitchs' cycles right and left because there are no buyers out there. I can't breed my bitch this season due to the economy. But they are still intact, and the breeders will still be punished by this law. Pay for my own fingerprinting and background check??!! What kind of garbage is that! Land of the free, my @ss.
Have read the entire bill? Do you realize it gives a STATE INSPECTOR the right to decide if a dog is aggressive, or if a breeders record of a dog's "dispostion" is accurate? A state health inspector is NOT a dog trainer, evaluator, or behaviorist, and I seriously doubt the state will actually hire them. This bill will cost them them tons of money on hiring inspectors alone. I think there is enough wrong with the state of IL without wasting money to pick on dog breeders. Chilren have terrible test scores, families can't keep their heat on...
And regarding the AKC, no one will disagree with you there. There are money hungry and uncaring. But perhaps you havent noticed that not so many mill dogs come with AKC papers anymore. Most are APR or CKC.
You said "the governement should govern breeding". Really? And where should they stop? You put too much trust in the government (IL gov., of all things!), one day you will pull your head out of the sand and all our rights will be gone.

Ya'll were happy to vote all those looney liberals into office. Now you want to bitch about what they are doing to your freedoms?
Good day indeed. This is only the tip of the iceberg. I predict within ten years there will be federal laws to control everything about pet ownership, from breeding to housing to vet care. We responsible breeders are all going to end up living in Mexico where the taxes are low and the law stays out of people's living rooms.
