>>"My breeder had told me that they had already dropped prior to shipment. A few days after I picked him up at the airport , I took him to my vet for an health examination. My vet told me that his testicles had not dropped."<<

If the breeders Vet has a record of each pup in the litter or just a record for this male pup in question ... this could play a big role in any contract I would think. Checking for gonads on a first few visits to the Vet is ideal practice and usually noted on his records.

How far has this pup air traveled ? Just wondering.

If he was purchased to be a pet...which sounds like he was, if you intended to neuter him anyway...just some financial help from the breeder for the extra expense to neuter a cryptorchid dog should be sufficient.  I don' t know why he should have a replacement dog of either sex if he intended to neuter it anyway.  It doesn't matter if the dog is really gorgeous...and he is very gorgeous...it does not look like he was purchased to be a show and breeding dog.  Though you might have changed your mind about what you wanted to do with him, if the breeder sold the dog to be a pet...a pet is what he is.

"How far has this pup air traveled ?"
He began his trip on the east coast with a 3 hour drive to the airport. His flight had a 4 hour layover in Texas. He was on the plane for a total of about 14 hours. Then after we picked him up in Seattle, it took us another 4 or 5 hour drive to get him to his new home. He seemed to take it all very well... it would have killed me.
Immediately after we picked him up, I calmly introduced myself to him, and then after about 15 minutes of being alone with him, my bride and two young grandsons were introduced. I gave him fresh water, offered him a snack, cleaned his travel crate, gave him a quick bath and a new toy. He drank the water, declined the food, ignored the toy..... and attacked and ripped the toy packaging to pieces. LOL
He was full of energy as soon as we put him in the cab of my truck. A short time later he played in the truck bed during a 45 minute ferry ride. It was on the ferry that I flat fell for this little guy. He was doing high fives and shaking my hand before the boat ride was over. He seemed to sleep for most of the next 3 days, except when I took him to the vet for his health examination.
BTW... I have held off on registering him and was going to finally get around to getting that done. I was going to name him after my heart surgeon, but I have another consideration... if I can get away with it, and IF the breeder upsets me. I am thinking of registering him as, "No-Nunners von der (breeders kennel name)". ;>) Now THERE'S a pound of flesh!! Just joking (I think).... calm down everyone.  LOL

AKVeronica60   Absolutely NOT !! I never said or inferred that this was a "pet purchase"... NOT ONCE.    I never intended to ever have my boy neutered. I have NEVER had any of my dogs neutered and I have never had an unwanted pregnancy.... wait, there was my first wife, but that's the only one, honest. LOL
I explained to the breeder that my interest was broad. I told her that I might want to show him, and if that worked out, I might even use him for breeding, but I knew I had much to learn, I wasn't going to be a damn puppy mill or do anything half$$ed. I told her that I was also interested in dog sports and protection work with this dog.    I admitted that I had  much to learn and that I needed a high quality dog. I wanted it to have spirit but I wanted to be able to live with it. I also talked about how, at the time, it was difficult for me to focus on only one possible use for this dog, because I wasn't sure where my medical issues were going to lead. For example, had I stayed crippled up (I didn't ), I would not be able to deal with protection work and instead might focus of show, but that I wanted to keep my options open. I told her that I had undergone heart surgery and several other life threatening issues this past year, but I am strong willed, have excellent doctors, can afford the best care..... and was on the mend. All too many times I have proven that I am not an easy man to kill, and I am blessed by God.     I knew the color I preferred, but I stressed that the health and temperament of the dog was of most importance to me.    I did talk about some of my daily life and additional plans in that I love playing on the sea, fishing, riding my Harley's, taking off into the woods, playing in the dirt on my tractor, talking to dogs, travel and on and on. I just like playing outside and I find it's more difficult to kill a moving target, so I keep moving. BUT none of that should matter, I mean... if I had a fire-breathing dog named "Murder" that I kicked butt in dog sports, I would still defend my choice to involve my dog on other (pet) things in my life. "Murder" would still be my pal and hang out with me every day. Cop dogs chase and fight bad guys, but they still go home and become the good neighbor and family pet.   I did not suggest to the breeder, in any way whatsoever, that it was fine to just send me fluffy, just some pup to lick my face and lay at my feet while I watch American Idol , eat potato chips and get fat.... and for her effort I would fork over $4000, for "a pet".   She told me that this pup would likely be very striking in appearance, with "strong bone", that it was "German show line", "with strong working potential", those were her words. What about any of THAT sounds like the description of a "pet only" dog.

Trust me on this, if any breeder tires that C/S garbage on me, I will bring all to bear one heck of a dog fight in the courts, period. I am upset with issues about my boy, but I can live with them, even though things are not as perfect as I would have wanted.

Falco is going to be a good dog, I will make him happy, but I will be restricted in his use--contrary to my plans.    I have decided not to let any of this keep me down, but I have never rolled over on anything in my entire life, I am certainly not going to start now. Later this week, I expect this breeder to be fair to herself and to me, and not try to play any games, for if she does........    While my writing style sometimes misses the mark, I truly am a reasonable man and I intend to be with my breeder.   One more thing, Veronica, please tell Sarah I love her.

Well, one thing is for sure, thanks to having found this place and networking with a few other folks, I will get a far better deal the next time I buy a dog.   An hour ago I discovered something else about my boy.    I turned him over and found some writing on his belly. It reads, "Some Assembly Required" and "Nunners Not Included". LOL    What the heck, might as well laugh, it is what it is....... and I still love him.

That's funny gator113.I have never found any place to buy those missing nunners from.LOL.. He looks like a real nice dog .I hope the breeder dose whats right for you, they are not all bad.Pet quality pups usually come with limited AKC registration.Did you check your puppy papers to see if they are marked limited? That means no showing no breeding .Nunners not always included..I keep coming back in and adding ,,for 4000 dollars the nunners should be  like the family jewels..

Gator, I guess I misunderstood your postings, as you posted that maybe you wanted to do this and maybe you wanted to do that.  Most people, when they purchase a dog, specify what the dog's job will be.  I stand corrected on that account with your further postings.  Yes, you paid a lot of money for him, but sometimes people DO pay tons of money for a pet.  About 17 years ago I watched a lady at a cat show purchase a champion NEUTERED persian cat for $2500-- to be a pet.  (With registered cats, you can show and title them even if they are spayed or neutered. )   Anyway, it does sound like you did tell the breeder that this could be what you wanted, and if you did sports, you probably would want him to keep his testosterone production up.  I have to say, however, that if you have not yet contacted the breeder, you do not yet know how she will react.  It could be as simple as "My goodness, yes, I will replace the dog."  I hope it is just that simple, that's how it should be.

I am afraid I am not "in" with Governor Palin, though my husband went to school with Senator Lisa Murkowski.  I don't think that is going to be of any advantage to us though :-)

Veronica
