I'm voting based on the issues that are most important to me--and for the most part, Palin (and McCain) are voicing opinions with which I disagree.Even taxes...

As far as hunting from an airplane and canned hunts.... no surprise there. She follows in "good" VP footprints. After all, Dick Cheney took a group of his friends and they killed FIVE HUNDRED birds in an afternoon in a canned hunt. I suspect those would be good numbers for a slaughterhouse.

Re: I saw Obama on Bill O'Reilly the other night ............................
I am not an avid Obama backer by any means - I feel that his resume is thin. But I do give him credit for being willing to appear on O'Reilly. This is unlike Palin who the McCain campaign does not want exposed to the media because they know that she is lacking in terms of knowledge of foreign policy and questioning will show it.
Frankly, my only concern with McCain before he selected Palin was that he subscribes to neo-con beliefs in the area of foreign policy and that will be a disaster for the US. His views in other areas was to accomodate the right-wing base of the Republican party. I don't believe for a moment that he will give a tax-cut - he was opposed to the original tax cuts until he started running for office. I believe he will appoint moderate judges to the Supreme Court and will grant amnesty to illegals. I also believe that he will work in a bi-partisan way with the Democrats if he is elected on domestic issues.
What sealed the deal for me with regard to voting for Obama is when he - a 72 year old guy with a history of melanoma - decided to select Palin as his VP. He did it to excite the base and succeeded. He knows perfectly well as do most Republicans - even if they won't say so - that she is unqualifed to take over as POTUS if the situation ever arises. He used to say that Obama would rather lose a war to win an election - with the selection of Palin, he has selected an unqualifed person as VP just in order to win an election.
Here is an article by a conservative columnist, David Brooks, who suggests the he and other well known Republicans feel that she is unqualified.

George Will, as conservative as they come, is even more scathing:
" The man who would be the oldest to embark on a first presidential term has chosen as his possible successor a person of negligible experience.
Any cook can run the state, said Lenin, who was wrong about that, too.
