GARD...takes us for morons

Pens dont write by themselves & Guns dont fire bullets themselves.

Theres no such thing as 'accdental discharge.'   Theres Stupid.  And Stupid people. doing stupid things. Cops sometimes fall in that category.

Ive hunted 25+ years.  I also shoot 200-400 rounds per week with my handguns. Ive never had an 'accidental' discharge in all of this time.

Pull trigger, guns goes BOOM.

'Accdental  discharge 'is a legal ploy attorneys & Defenders use to get idiots off the hook who fire their guns before sighting in their target,  aka itchy trigger finger...

Hey GARD, you are absolutely right.  No doubt about it.

Hey ugly, actually I agree with you on this post for the most part.  Theres an old saying about accidental discharges, or as I prefer "negligent discharges."  I'm a firearms instructor and the saying goes:  There are 2 types of people with guns; those that have had an "AD" and those that haven't had one yet.    It can happen to anyone and probably will at some point, hopefully it is at a range and goes safely downrange.  With the exception of a shotgun, which can be dropped and go off all other guns require a finger on the trigger.  Shooting from a static position like standing, kneeling or prone is one thing.  Moving through a building at 3AM with a dog searching on lead in the dark is another.  We practice building clearing with 9mm simunition and it can leave welts and bruises when you get shot.  Mistakes can happen, unfortunately the dog was killed.  It is a sad tragedy.  Hopefully, we'll get the whole story soon.

Wow you guys really turned this into a pissing contest.  This poor man looses his best friend to his own hand and you guys start war between yourselves.  I bet he wishes he was as perfect as some of you.  Come on guys and gals Accidental Discharges happen.  Yes they happen because of a mistake of some sort and in a perfect worls NEVER happen but we don't live in a perfect world do we?  We don't know the circumstances becasue we weren't there and most likely will never know the whole truth.  What we do know is a MAN who happens to work as a Law Enforcement Officer sworn to protect the public (everyone including us) went to work one day and made horrible mistake, which he is no doubt suffering over.  He is human.  His dog perished performing his duty.  This is Horrific please don't make it worse than it needs to be.

That's too bad. I feel sorry for the guy. He is gonna have to live with this for a long time. I know I would have a very tough time getting over something like this.

Heh Slamdunc

I've trained police K9 dogs for 22 yrs. and know some of the best trainers there are. My friends have the top 10 dogs in the USPCA nat'l K9 trials. I was not there when this poor dog was shot and no one else was either. So like you SLAMDUNC  I won't judge someone t'ill the infro. comes out. I just can't stand K9 handlers that let their dogs die in the heat of their K9 cars without a heat alarm (go check on them or bring them inside the station). Or contact my friends from ( AceK9.com ) I live in the mountains in NC and it's not as hot but I still check on my K9 dog all the time. And as for you DESERT RANGER you don't have the brains that would fit inside a timble and your dog is FAT and thats your fault. Take care JIM
