Maybe someone should have checked to see just why Ule was not there -- she was being bred so was not available.

The videos of the protection phase are posted on a website - I don't have the link but saw it on the "green board". Rather than making comments without seeing the performance, it is quite simple to watch it and then comment.

I don't have any interest in any of he dogs listed, but do like facts over opinions based on performances not seen.

What the heck are you talking about? The self-explanatory TSB rating? Hope not, if you think one needs to see the performance to understand what the rating means. :-)

I saw this video on the green board .

All in all I find this whole thread rather catty and in very poor taste and I kinda cringed to see it.... makes me ashamed of being counted among my bretheren.

This handler has won the PNW with a pretty nice score of 269.

I do not know about others... but I would like to say it loud and clear.  Let those who can hear..listen.

It takes a lot of courage and skill to take any showline dog and compete at higher than a club level and then get any where close to the scores that Karen Sinclair has acheived. A 99 point track at a high level competition on a 90+ degree day is phenomenal. And the obedience and protection scores were not something that would be acheived by a shrinking violet either.

Instead of admiring this kind of handler and encouraging her in a way that motivates others to follow in her footsteps...what do we do. We slime her in a backhanded manner.

This behavior is not something that I would wish to be a part off. It displays a kind of cowardice that I associate with a weak nerved canine that submissively cowers in front of you and then circles around and snaps at your heels from behind.

Shame on such people and on us for tolerating this.

Ravi,

thanks for speaking up.

Nothing needs to be added, except that I think Karen is a wonderful and talented trainer. Many people here could only dream of achieving that level of expertise.

No one here is criticizing Karen's talent as a trainer.   That is emminently clear.  I would like to have seen Ule entered as well and continue on her quest for Uni S.  I also believe that had she entered the Canadian Championships, the team might have had a good shot at going to the Worlds.  That would have been nice to see.  Too bad Mary D. needs another litter at this time.

I'm not sure why people think it takes more courage to trial and compete with a showline dog.  It takes a lot of guts to compete with any dog.  If more showline dogs were trained to this level, we would see more of them in the Regionals and Nationals.  It is a shame this doesn't happen much.  It would be very nice to see Ule and Karen at these venues because they clearly have the right stuff.

This is a discussion board.  Performances and trials and declarations for Universal Sieger are public.  Such things get discussed here.  Now let the self-righteous inherit the earth.

If you don't like the way things are discussed here, stick to the green board where Chris and Mary maintain a very tight control over what is said, who gets to say it and how it's said.  Where rudeness is OK as long as it is done by a mod with emoticons!

WHO has critisized Karen in this discussion? I saw nothing but PRAISE for Karen throughout as a hnadler, a pewrson and trainer. Where, exactly, do you see her being "slimed"? Maybe there is a post here I did not see? Yes, it takes a LOT of courage to step out on a trial field, with ANY dog, show line, working line, or mutt. I don't recall anyone disputing that at all. Granted, "some" of us, including, if not especially Mary D, have gotten quite a bit of a kick out of the results because it is a triumph by a show line bitch in a heavily working-line region...AND SHE AND KAREN BEAT THEM ALL!! Get it? That is not "sliming," "back-handing" or any negative crap others are trying to manufacutre. AND, it is being done by the bitch's CO-OWNER as much, or more, than anyone else. Get it? Got it? Good!

Why is it that the breeder deserves credit for having the "wisdom" of placing a dog (of either sex) with a co-owner who does all the grunt work of training/titling/conditioning?

Been there--done that, personally--as a sucker co-owner--on multiple occasions.

At least, Karen has had the satisfaction of doing all the imprinting/training/titling/conditioning of her present HOT bitch--to the best of my knowledge.

And what exactly is it that Mary Dygert did? Come to think of it, does she do any training at all?
