It is as i said on another thread, I thought this was about G.S Dogs not a forum talking about Bad or Crooked Breeders. because although i read some of thease threads out of curiosity, some of the replys sicken me.
No one has the right to slag of others the way some have probably without that person even knowing its happenin g to them. it is human nature to talk about these things but at the end of the day sort it out yourself straight forward action is the only way
Don' is correct. if you have to have an area to talk about Bad or crooked Breeders then have it's own Section solely for that, and if anything which relates to these unsavoury topics pops up on another thread then the Powers to be can just delete it without any warning,
Keep this In one area of the site and lets talk about the G.S

I can only add comment to this thread using the knowledge I have gained from my own dog owning experiences. Yes, I am one of the 'pet' owning crowd who beside that still has the interest of the breed in mind but perhaps from a different perspective.
I've been to many shows & schutzhund type displays and it strikes me that these are very much specialised areas. I say this not to demean the activities but to emphasise the point that dogs that excel in specialised areas are themselves special and therefore cannot be easily found or bred.
Over 15 yrs or so we've had three german showlines non of which were/are spectacular VA dogs but still with decent breeding & conformation. Now we treat our dogs as dogs, always with respect, but still as dogs none the less e.g obedience trained, 2 long walks a day, not allowed on the furniture or upstairs, kennelled outside when we're at work, no snacks or feeding from the table etc. But in addition they come with us almost every where we go, to the shops, visiting friends & even for a pint (or two or three) down the pub!
And what has been common amongst all three is their trainability, stability, willingness to please, faithfulness, protectiveness & just their sheer unflinching loyalty. These character traits, in my humble opinion, are possibly the greatest assets the GSD has without which it could never do any of the things asked of it.
And it also these character traits, regardless of what tasks we ask them to perform, that make the GSD the best companion you could ever have...

The reason the german lines have been able to preserve those traits we all so love is through breeding dogs who pass performance tests, conformation tests & health tests - nothing less will do. The USA thought they could do it better, didn't pay attention to titles and ended up with the ASS.
