Can anyone check out KARO ASBACHERLAND in Prestons dog example.??? His WITHER is HIGH and has a very SHORT BACK.... My question is...??? " WILL THAT BREAK in the TOPLINE (iron-back) , RAISE Higher than the withers, if the Rear legs are directly below the Pelvis.??? I refering to the four vertical legs,,, The main dfference between the German Showline and working lines.... I imagine that this Topline will have a ROACHED back if the rear legs are directly below the pelvis...

My pup is doing super. We took almost 2 months off to mature / him, stay dry / me. Back to training last Saturday. Boy was he ready to bite something. I let all of that nice OB go to sh!# but worked on it the last couple days and it comes back quickly. My little boy is growing up and I notice, I don't quite look at him the same. I'm wondering if it is from lack of working together or he is just developed into something different.
Another month and I will have a new pup to spoil, kiss and ooh and aww over. Baden will no longer be the puppy of the house. I just got laughed at yesterday for calling him my little puppy. I guess he hasn't really been little for...oh about 12 months now.
We did some fun PSA senarios right off the bat when we went back to training and I didn't know how my dog would react to those but he didn't stop, for not knowing what was expected of him. I was pretty happy with his performance. I'm the one that was standing there wondering "what was I suppossed to do again"? I have watched others do these scenarios before but have never been the one commanding a dog.
We have done short sends, a few outs and he does a bark and hold on me at home but we had never put it all together. I have never asked my dog to jump in or out of a car window, over barrels to get a decoy, or such long sends but after the first initial pause, to look at me after the send...the decoy always ended up the destination. I was a little worried, "would my dog refuse to come out the window or not engage the decoy because of the distractions"? NO worries there. I'm confident after both or us have worked a few more senarios, it will all be second nature. Another thing, that dog will out the toy, empty sleeve or bite pillow but put a man on the end of a sleeve/suit and we need to work on that out! LOL

Hey, I'm not hijacking this thread... I just read Preston mentioned "There is no such thing as (short-bodied)..." Long backs are really common, (as the GSD is supposed to be longer than tall) and the roach was an over-compensation ...

Just tried to check the ratio and proportion on the long body or middle-piece... the Loins should be short, shorter than the pelvic-length and Ribs just above the elbow-joint... Probably the correct term is the body relatively longer than the legs...

If you go back and look - I posted some other links - you can see the dog is listed as a longcoat "alteduetscher schaferhund" -- DEFINTELY no doubt about it this dog is a longcoat and you can see that on the pictures of him on the owners website
Now the titles are misleading as you assume SV rules when you see VA, KKL ...........................I gather the longhair group has their own rules?
Same thing where CH got put in front of a dog's name that should have been U-CH...................
All different "rules of the game" I guess. .... mileading but perhaps not dishonest

Yes I believe there is a separate long-coat registry in Germany and they have their own conformation shows and "seiger show" - hence the ratings and breed survey - I guess.

That is the registry for the long-coats in Germany, so Molly is apparently correct that it was at a long-coat show. Odd, though, isn't the kennel name one of the BIG show kennels in Germany?

Good luck with the new pup, 4pack. Are you getting a longcoat? Kidding!!! I assume you dog's skin issues went away?

Blitzen, thanks for asking. For now it looks to be cleared up. It's been 4 weeks off his meds and 2 months on the new diet "Duck and Potato". I'm adding one suppliment at a time per week, started with grape seed oil and all was good. A couple weeks ago I noticed the abundance of eggs in the fridge and started giving him one daily over his kibble. Now I have added molasses, "one of his favs" to his food and he is still clear. My guess is it was the flax or chicken. I'm hoping the flax, as chicken was my favorite RAW to feed him. Maybe some day I will try chicken again and see if we get a reaction. Any opinions on how long I should wait to try that?
No long coats for me thanks! Never even been a long coat in any litter I have been interested in.

I believe that your comment was response to my coment about the dog.
Having in mind GSD standard and rules of SV, what did I say wrong? Ignorant? Well, I most definitely do not consider myself as such, thank you very much. When comenting I had GSD standard in mind, nothing else. And one more thing, I have no prejudice against LC. They are as good as any "normal" GSD but unforunately I cannot take them to the shows.
