Working - beautiful is what serves a useful purpose
Hmmm... wonder who said that?

the other thread , sad day for the breed rages on. a simlar arguement.
there is all this talk about the gsd and what it should do. work, show, service.
what it lacks and how to fix it. there is to much specific breeding for this and that with no regard for what the dog does best. you all know the word extreme, I see everyone use it.
The one thing that has made this dog my dog all my life was they're ability to be a companion.
To be smart enough to really be a family member. thats why they would give they're life for you, not because you decided to train them to bite. that why they are protective, because they concider you family. The intelligence, courage and devotion. And of course they must be physicaly fit to perform and live long. were does anyone test for this ability to bond a man to a dog?
personality, common sense, good manners? who gives awards for this?
I guess what I'm really ranting about is the extremes with no concern for caracter.
I'm just a byb I guess but I know what the breed was about in the beginning and I dont see alot of it today. Everyone has they're own agenda. everyone argues about whats good for the breed.
maybe a quality has been overlooked.
Oh well, I didnt have anything better to do tonight. sorry for popping off.

Own Showline and a rescued BYB dog
Like both for different reasons
BUT what I really love is a well bred dog from ANY of the lines, No extremes, for me it's about the individual dog

Show lines that can work. (There are some out there!)
I've had both and they each have their positives and negatives.

I have the trifecta........
I have a showline Blk/red female 2 yrs, that works very well..... a working line bi color female pup 4 months that will show very well, and a 1/2 working (Czech) 1/2 showline (Gucci) pattern sable male 4 yrs that loves to work and show
Oh ya....... one cat with tremendous food drives ;)

I guess I'm one of the freaks that like both. lol
But, if I absolutely had to pick, the working lines would get it.
