by ramgsd on 22 November 2007 - 15:11

what 2moons? all of a sudden your that voice of reason. you, the only one here who says he now dogfighters and has been to them? then you state that it should be a felony, DUH it is in all 50 states as well as PR. as a matter of fact attending one is also a felony in almost every state now. you try and make yourself seem like an authority on the breed which you obviously are not. i think we all would be better off with out the likes of admitted felons like you here.

I was just curious about 4paks size statement in the post.

Yeah and yes and I know ....... jeez

And 4pak was wrong, there are different weight class's.

The last time I attended an event was the last time my friend put on such an event.  It was filmed by an undercover officer.

That was many years ago, very many.  My friend who was third in the country retired so to speak.  He did however go on to become game cocker of the year in ******* a midwestern state.   Wasnt my best friend but a friend anyway.   I dont tell other people what to do.  We all answer to someone, its just not me.

Anyway, I was just seeing if you were watchin.....:]    Sorry man, that was not nice I know.

Anyway have a good Thanksgiving.

1. How old are you?     45
2. Have you ever owned a dog ? yes

3. Have you ever owned a pit bull ? No, my brother and  two cousins owned and bred them, but got out of the breed realizing the liability of owning Pit bulls.  I've seen nice pit bulls with their owners, but their behavior changed when owners were not around or if they escape from their pens.

4. Do you think banning pit bulls will decrease the number of attacks on people by dogs? Of course, banning will decrease the number of dogs It lowers the population and less contact with people. If one dog group gets banned, then it opens the door for other breeds.

However, I think PIT BULL should be banned from SCHUTZHUND as they are in Europe.

5, 6, and 7 Yes

8. Do you think it would be more fair to the public to instate requirements for pitbull ownership?

Don't know. Ownership of any dog is now being challenged by Peta and animal rights organizations. I believe the approach should be make sure our Schutzhund clubs protect our sport. Both USA and the WDA are sanctioned for holding Schutzhund trials from the SV in Germany. We should follow their requirements for entree into trials.

The Schutzhund title, tracking, obedience and protection phases was initiated as tests of breedworthiness. We have been able to continue our sport, because we can show a direct corilation between Schutzhund and the need to develop the GSD.  It's a part of our breed requirements.

We enjoy Schutzhund competition as a sport by showing the skill of our dogs and handlers. I would hate to see the protection phases watered down or eliminated, if some animal rights group starts monitoring our sport. It's better to be forwarned than having to justify ourselves after the fact.

The pit bull's reputation whether true or exaggerated attracks some people, who like to fight dogs. This is a given! No amount of denial or trying to revese the pit bull's immage will change this reputation as viewed by the public.  The dye is cast!  There are good owners and nice pit bulls, but I'm afraid those who breed and keep pits, will have to deal with this reality.

1. How old are you? 2. Have you ever owned a dog ? Yes 3. Have you ever owned a pit bull ? Yes 4. Do you think banning pit bulls will decrease the number of attacks on people by dogs? If the Pit Bulls aren't replaced by other dogs - then of course there would be a decrease. Simply because there would be 1000s fewer dogs (but this wouldn't answer the underlying queston). I THINK YOU MEAN TO ASK: Will there be a disportionate decrease in attacks on people if Pit Bulls are banned? My answer to this question is: I don't have enough meaningful information to form an opinion on this. I would have to review statistics from municipalities that have banned this (and/or any other breed) to venture an opinion. I don't like to form opinions on important matters like this (curtailing individual freedom for the public good) based on personal whim. 5. Do you think pitbulls are innately vicious toward humans? No, but I do think that individuals of this breed are more likely to act aggressively towards people and animals than individuals of some other breeds, although not more so than all other breeds. 6. Do you think a pitbull is too strong willed for the average person to control? No 7. Do you think pitbulls are to physically strong for the average a) female   b) males   to control? Not more than other fit, active mid-size or large dog breeds. But I DO think the average dog-owner that I've observed seem to be ill-equipped to cope with agile, quick, physically fit dogs (Regardless of breed.) 8. Do you think it would be more fair to the public to instate requirements for pitbull ownership? No.

Yes, lets not get PITA on our backs.

These so called animal rights advocates [PITA] are terrorists as far as I'm concerned, trust me you dont want them to target you.

I love animals, probably , yes more than humans.  I do not like to see animals abused.  But PETA is a little to radical in my view.

And pit dogs?   They deserve to be here as much as anyone else. They just need to be understood a little better.

I still wouldnt own one, but I think they can find purpose in the world.

The important thing is for people to be responcible, no matter what kind of animal you raise.

Moi.
