4pack:
"I know he must have been well taken care of physically but is he like an alien, poked and prodded and then put away when they are done with him?"
He looked fabulous the last time I saw him, less than a year ago. From what I understand this dog is currently in the best of hands and not a kennel dog and no, he is not an alien, being poked and proded. He is with experienced GSD people. From what I have seen he is treated as the royalty he is.
Maybe he should join Kora?

I'm not rich, I don't have an inground pool, (maybe I'd like to be one of Molly's retired brood bitches!! I'd like to retire, and I've certainly been called a bitch!), but my dogs love me, and they know I love them back; that's what makes me saddest, wondering if Yasko ever had that in his life......be a sport Bill, give the dog to a good home! Hell, 20K will only buy gas for the Hummer/Limo for about a year....just write it off! jo

Hi 4pack
Wanna meet up in Granite Bay?
I'm certain that Yasko was loved and well cared for by his care giver in Texas. Those who've seen him say that he has fabulous temperament. "House manners"? That's hard to say. For sure, he never made it to that "mansion".
Though Bill may not want to just give the dog away, he could sell him for a token fee ($1.00?). I suspect that Yasko has already been sufficiently depreciated for tax purposes--based on his life expectancy as a stud dog.
Yasko would not be in a kennel with me. In fact, I don't even have a traditional kennel run on the property. My front, side, and backyards are divided giving all the dogs large, fenced, sheltered areas with large shade trees--where they can't even see (or smell through the fences) one another to run the fence line or to fence fight. They are rotated through the house every day. One always sleeps with me in my bedroom.
Nope--no mansion or estate in my part of Dixon. However, within minutes from me, there is a huge park as well as a chainlink fenced baseball field converted to a dog park. I take my guys there for exercise with vigorous games of two balls. This is not like the typical dog park where there are other dogs of all breeds playing, sniffing butts, and socializing.

Oh that's right Louise, you live in little Dixon. I miss my days in Woodland. I talked to you months back about your dog Geronimo. Fine dog. Pictures of your place looked like a nice home for any dog. I vote we meet in Granite Bay and break Yasko out. You take him home. Oh damn, so much for stealth!

You know what they say about the love of money being the root of all evil........And unfortunately, the downfall of many a German Shepherd. If this is what happens to an amazing dog like Yasko, I don't even want to think about what happens to all the other dogs once they have outlived their usefulness. Sadly, I believe Molly's ethical responsibility to her dogs is the exception and not the rule. Too bad it's not the other way around.

Amen, HB92649. I agree 100% with your post.

This whole thread has just depressed me, coming on the heels of the Michael Vick affair and recent arrests here in North Carolina and other areas. I know that puppy mills and dog fighting and animals as commodities exist, but I don't dwell on them (or the rest of the news, for that matter, which is always bad). However, I have personalized this, I suppose.
We have had a Yasko grandson (a Larus son) for almost two years, purchased as an adult, nursed through a chronic illness. We have watched him blossom from a kennel dog to a wonderful companion, full of affection and personality, who loves his pack and his house. He looks very much like Yasko, bigger and not as red as Larus. We shudder to think what his future might have been, had he not come to us. It just makes me sad.

Yasko has spent quite a lot of time with a family in North Texas. Where he was in the house and well cared for. He visited our club show last November and looked happy and in super health and condition.

Why not leave him with this family? Why sell him when he is happy with these people in the house and well cared for?

20k is why
