I've watched many an animal grow of all varieties. The growth rate of different parts of the body can make an animal look fine one day, and look like it should be culled the next week. I don't know this specific situtaion, but I've seen equine foals with the difference between wither and hip height to be 4 - 6 inches, and the height of each will trade off as they mature, like a see-saw. When mature they are about the same height....

I disagree, Sue-Ann. Bites can and do change over the lifetime of some dogs. I bred a dog that was scissors at 8 weeks, level at 7 months, still level at 9 months. Sold him as a pet when he was a year old, bite was then undershot. Saw him at 13 months, still undershot. There was a divorce in the family when he was 3 so I took him back. His bite was then scissors and stayed that way until he died from old age. Had similar experiences with 2 other dogs. Not GSD's but why would it be any different? I doubt I am the only person reading this who has seen bites change on dogs as they mature.
Now you're saying this is not Naya? That's a pretty strong statement based only on the dog's bite.

Blitzen, what I am saying is that perhaps Lisa shouldn't be slammed for asking the question, "Is it possible the dog can go from ok to bad bite from age 11 months to age 20 months?"
This board slams and criticizes every little detail from every post. It get's old. Now I am getting heat for pointing out Lisa's question...simple as it was.
To me, yes, this doesn't seem possible. As I mentioned, if someone knows of a different experience, at least Lisa has an answer to her question. You say yes, it's possible. To me it is unlikely.

You know I would have to agree that this board is quick to jump on someone for just about anything. And I am not one that has a " Stir the shit pot" agenda, but this is really just a tactless way to try and get a personal situation out for all to see. If Lisa was just trying to get opinions on this bite, why dig up an old archive post and add on? Would not a more normal thing have been to start a new thread, post PICS and ask a genuine question if in fact it was just that? Most of the people on this board would not kick a downed dog, but a few have no problem kicking a downed person. To those of you with a sence of human compassion, I applaude each and everyone of you.

I'm well aware that Krista is only 16 or 17 years old, but she didn't need to lie about Naya's bite and some other stuff. I know she lied about her bite because she sent pictures of a perfect bite 2 weeks ago to someone who sent me a PM yesterday. She had a planned breeding with Naya for next Spring, and yeah we were under the impression that she was breeding quality, I trusted her. I've talked with Krista (email) since before she purchased Naya as a puppy so we are not total strangers. Krista knows we didn't purchase Naya for breeding only, I thought she really was a certified therapy dog.

"Krista knows we didn't purchase Naya for breeding only, I thought she really was a certified therapy dog."
Lisa are you suggesting another lie?

The question about the bite as an add on vs a fresh thread I think is entirely appropriate. It's the same dog in question.
Lisa, I think you got a pretty nice dog for the price paid. Have her spayed, enjoy her. I place retired females at $400 so even with the spay costs ahead, you got a great pet at a great price.

Did you not see the dog before you bought it? That's the only question I have left!!!

by Mystere on 25 June 2008 - 21:06
Wait a minute!! You mean to tell me that Krista is a child???? We are talking abut the actions of a 16 or 17 year old MINOR, versus an adult?

by 4pack on 25 June 2008 - 21:06
Yup that is correct Mystere. She is a teen.
