Some other memorable quotes from Ed: "There is no reason for my dog to MEET any other dog and there certainly is NO REASON for me to let anyone pet my dog. This concept really baffles me. People who allow strangers or guests or friends to pet their dog are asking for problems. Especially if their dog is a CHOW or other aggressive breed. Dogs are pack animals. The only people who need to pet them are their pack members." How To Train Aggressive Dogs the Leerburg Way: "I will tell you that with many dogs this level of correction may mean jerking the dog off his feet with a prong collar. It may mean that the owner has to put his dog into total avoidance to get his attention. This is not rocket science, once the dog understands that EVERY TIME IT SHOWS aggression it is going to have its head taken off - it will mind. "I heel the dog to this location and attach the line to the dominant dog collar. At that point I will do something that causes the dog to attack me. When he does I offer the arm with the hidden sleeve. When the dog is biting the arm the second handler will raise the dogs 4 feet off the ground. I remain totally calm and look the dog in the eye and tell him he will not bite me. "The dog stays there until he passes out. Then he is lowered to the ground and lies there until he regains consciousness. Then we start again. Usually these kind of dogs will only have to be hung 2 or 3 times and they quickly learn that you are a big person - the way they look at it is that you have the power to kill them at any time. This is a big big point in establishing dominance with dogs like this."

and yet all of his quotes, everytyhing he thinks or has said about dog training, is out there for EVERYONE to read.  Where's your website, your history, ever said something you may not agree with now?  and when you cherry pick stuff, it loses its context.  He's not talking about getting "fluffy" to sit with those quotes.

by GoldenElk on 24 July 2007 - 14:07

I'd never post my website here, because it would be "out of context". And who are you? Ed's left nut? He doesn't need you to defend him, but if you're going to take on the task, why won't you ask Big Daddy Frawley to cut you a check for the effort, he can more than afford it.

by zdog on 24 July 2007 - 14:07

No, I can pretty much think, talk and act for myself, and yes he can defend himself.  I take on any task I chose.  If I feel like posting what I think about someone I will.  I usually don't use this forum to dump on people like so many others do.  It's easy to be a target when everything you have or haven't done is out there for everyone to see.  and the ones doing the attacking should probably have something better to do, but sadly they don't.  And I don't need anyone to cut me a check, I do just fine.

Yes, Ed has a HUGE ego. Unlike all the kind and humble people on this board! ROTFLMAF!!!!!!!!!!

But that does not effect the quality of bloodlines that he had.  To answer someone who asked where are the high scoreing and promanant dogs? What about 2005 World Team Member Wessex vom Leerburg??? I have a Wessex daughter who is super also. Her training is coming along VERY well. She also has looks and decent conformation and is 3/4 Leerburg lines.  One of the best bitches I have ever laid eyes on for the correct combination of perfect temperament and working drives and looks.  The percentage of actual working homes for any breeder is very low, but I know that there are plenty of Leerburg dogs out there that are titled. One only has to page through the 13 pages of Leerburg progeny to check on that.  You can hate the man all you want but the dogs are very nice dogs.

There is no question that Frawley has produced some good dogs, and that there are good bloodlines in his breeding program.  Also, I don't think anyone on this thread is saying that his website is not informative.

However, suppose I were to post a litter announcement on this site... my stud dog only has a BH, my female is untitled, and I'm asking $1800 for the puppies.  I would expect to get torn apart with all the "how dare you breed untitled dogs" rhetoric.  Every week it seems some ad is getting blasted for asking a mere $1000 out of untitled parents with OFA and good bloodlines.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.  If it's "ridiculous" for one guy to advertise high price pups out of untitled parents, then it's likewise "ridiculous" for Ed.

It's clear that untitled dogs bring all the genetics to the table that trained dogs do, but if titles mean nothing to a breeding program, then why are we bothering with training them in the first place?

I just think we ought to be fair in our judgements.  If dogs SHOULD be titled before breeding, then that applies to everyone.  If it really doesn't matter, then leave the newcomers alone.

Ed has more than just a big ego.  He is a narcissist.  Pompous.  His theory in life is if you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle em with bulls_ _t.  He has done the breed as much harm as any backyard breeder ever thought of.  He took a dog that was supposed to be put to sleep for sooo many non warranted bites (Otis) and bred him to everything that would stand.  Ed is about one thing and one thing only.  MAKING MONEY!!  He hates dogs.  His kennel setup use to look like a ghetto.  If you go on his board and disagree with ANYTHING he or his girlfriend fling out there, they either chastise you or kick you off.  I will agree that the guy has done some decent videos but the overall majority are for people that don't know any better.  His fowl mouthed attacks to people that disagree with him are legendary AND documented.  People that talk like that are really weird in my opinion and why would you buy anything from someone that weird.  Now I see that he is a nutritional expert on raw diet feeding.  I can't wait until he puts out a book or video on that.

I think the dog just mentioned as being a WUSV competitor 2 years ago was an Otis son.  I've actually seen a few of his progeny, most were pretty nice.  Great natural trackers too.  Everyone's got a dig don't they?  You ever produce a WUSV competitor?

by Uglydog on 24 July 2007 - 19:07

Lets call a Spade a spade.

Ed boastingly asserts his self appointed pre eminence in the German Shepherd world,  in being the "only person to breed 300 litters."  I still dont know what that means  ie Puppy Mill comes to mind.  The female above was nice looking, no doubt, and Im glad to hear that 1 dog was a WUSV competitor.  Folks, the man has produced somewhere between 1800-2000 Puppies.   Id say its about freakin time.

Im not a breeder, but I do have a working knowledge of mathematics & statisitics.  Eds progeny qualifiers,  be it regionnal, national or international or street working dogs, for that matter, is a joke given 2000 dogs produced..

And I also believe him to be an A hole.  Not talked to many that have met him that think otherwise. His war commentary makes me puke.

But I did get a chuckle out of the spoof web site called Leerkopf,  by Steve. Thats 1 funny dude.

If you ever get a chance and want a good laugh, watch one of Ed's early videos of the BSP, (late 80's) when he was narrating the tapes himself.
