I guess since we will be putting schutzhund titles on our dogs we will have to live with the fact that you don't take us seriously!
by Jeff Oehlsen on 18 June 2007 - 03:06
No, if that is all that is available to you, then go ahead and do it. Please read my whole post, and don't put your defensiveness into my post. I personally cannot take Sch seriously, as I have seen dogs that almost went into avoidance in the courage test magically get pronounced. I cannot take what it has become seriously. I know that my dog Axel could have done Sch, and passed the 3. Not good. I loved him to death, but he wasn't really the kind of dog that should have been able to pass the 3.
Want to answer the questions???

I'm not a show person & I don't know enough to answer your questions, I was just being flip.

I guess I don't really understand your questions. You are unhappy with the critique of one dog and are questioning how someone knows their dog has good angulation?
by Jeff Oehlsen on 18 June 2007 - 17:06
Ok let me try again. I was saying that I can see why there are such differences in what a dog looks like and used the critique to show how there could be confusion.
good front angulation, very good rear angulation, very good movement, OK so this sounds pretty nice right??? Then, the critique ends with this confusing statement. Should reach forward more freely. Well if this is true, then it is not very good movement is it???? Very good is not the same as OK. Very good should be really close to perfect.
Thge fact that it confused you as to what I was saying just makes my point even stronger. One of the problems I have with Dog Shows is the above statement. The other is that someone is gonna win. At least at a trial when you do not meet the minimum requirements, you do not pass. This should be true at a show.

Last year I tried to breed a spider monkey to a goat. I had this Idea that I would produce an animal that could milk himself. Do I need to explain what I got?
Well, to tell you the truth it did not go as planned. I now have a monkey with hoofs. He can't milk himself, climb trees, please himself or fling poop. He is a sad monkey. On the bright side, he does have a kick ace set of horns and he loves to eat everything!

I only got my boy Bob out of that breeding. Female goats usually have small first litters. Maybe next year will yeild a better product.
