I guess he is trying to say, that if you are arresting little guy like Guerena - guilty or not - then you are barking at the wrong tree, and that at the cost of excessive risk.  This guy  has a higher level point of view which is I guess  connected to what we are talking about.
He sais:
So as many of us who are well informed know it is useless to use expensive swat teams to attack "alleged drug infested homes" for what turns out to be a few rocks of crack.  This excessive and careless use of swat teams to combat higher level crimes of intel exposes the public and the swat members to needles risk.

This may be the truth in many cases, but in not all cases and thus I would not make such sweeping statement even so they may be truth in certain percentage of cases.
Otherwise it is very interesting point. Because if the drugs are brought to USA with USA knowledge then it is silly to fight this from the end of the street dealers.
There are a lot of conspiracy theories some me be truth and some are just sounding like it. I have learned through my life that no matter how convincing something sound it still my be a fiction, lie or misunderstanding.
Thus I'd suggest to lay back with open mind and wait before you finalize your opinion.

So, are we to let all the little drug dealers go? What is supposed to happen if a marine is allegedly dealing drugs in the house with his wife and kids? Don't call police? Shouldn't the police make the call who goes in, since it is their butts on the line? Or we wait until it is more convenient for the accused? Incredible. What are "higher level crimes of intel"? What does that mean? Spywork only?

I mean-- the way it is supposed to work, these things aren't arbitrary. This seems like a lot of belly aching and complaints with never a solution. Gets tiring to hear the same spin of outrage after a while. "Wait and see", that is being prescribed, well, I will, and I bet some of you guys won't believe what happens after that, either.

Hans, a working link would have been better, I'd like a head-banger, too. LOL

Beetree, no drug dealers that sell narcotics, even petty ones, should NOT be arrested.  But when over 40% of our prisons are filled with non-violent drug users and petty sellers, something is terribly wrong.  And what is wrong is corruption at the highest level of govt, intel and alphabets. I am suggesting that it is dysfunctional to the communities for govt and intel to bring in massive amounts of illegal narcotics as "controlled deliveries", to sell high powered automatic weapons to gangs and drug cartels for use against American lawmen, U.S. border patrol and citizens.  Using a swat team to attack a petty drug user/seller based on often unreliable information provided by a confidential informant (usually one that has committed multiple felonies) is overkill.  There are far too many innocent law abiding folks attacked in their homes by swat teams given mistaken or inaccurate informant information. Have you ever known any "confidential drug informants"?  Most of these folks are slimeballs who have made a deal with the devil to keep from being charged.  Some snitches will knowinglly provide false or mistaken information when pressured just to keep out of jail.  And too many police that I have know and/or known of are trigger happy towards dogs, even small harmless dogs.  Too many enjoy shooting dogs.  I would like to see all such special operations accompanied by a licensed animal officer who who make every attempt to use pole restraints on any dog that attempts to protect its owner.  I think it is a grave attack on the US Constitution to use swat teams against a so-called suspected drug home and far too dangerous for the people and children inside.  It oftens ends up in de facto executions with no valid warrant or any due process or trial. As courts have ruled numerous times, it is a homeowners right to protect himself from any illegal breakin or assault, even from the police. This is what happens when the govt breeds corruption in police, intel and alphabets.  It harms us all.  Many old time police officers with spotless records will tell you that good police work involves clean arrests when a suspect is away from his nest (home).  This takes good surveillance and well trained detectives. As one very famous and highly decorated retired police officer told me several years ago.  There is an 80/10/10 rule in most police depts.  80% are there to absorb heat, collect pay and pensions and slide through, 10% are corrupt and for sale (thumpers, on steroids or into drug networks), and 10% are the hard working honest ethical cops that do 80% of all the important work protecting the community without needless violence and actually relate very well to the public. The best policing is when officers relate well with community members who then trust them and help them solve crimes.
