I sent my letter.
This is exactly why GSD owners need to be proactive in socializing their dogs. If society would see more positive aspects of the GSD and less of the negative, maybe some of this stereotyping would end.
And another reason breeders should seek out only the best of homes for their pups.
Just as I wrote in my letter, if these dogs are banned from facilities such as this one, it creates more of a problem as the owners leave their dogs at home, where they are not interacting with other humans and are not learning to be the positive canine citizens they really need and want to be.
I think a lot of society looks as Schutzhund and the various forms of protection training, etc as bringing forth the aggressiveness in these dogs, therefore creating more potential for problems than the actual learning process of when to turn it on and off that they really are learning.
I myself would rather face a good dog that's been thru training then the common back yard dog that's been left tethered to the tree.

I have a friend who used to be a dog groomer. She told me all groomers agree that the absolute WORST breed to have to handle, in terms of vicousness is....
are you ready for this???
The cocker spaniel!!

I can see where emailing the RV park in question and complaining about the injustice of banning certain breeds might make some feel better about being proactive, but honestly----quoting statistics about any type of dog biting will only give these people more reason to ban ALL breeds.
I don't know what the answer is, but I would probably go at them where it would hurt most.
Blitzen---I assume the RV park in NC has been a previous hangout of yours since you mentioned having knowledge of 'dogs roaming free in their compound' in an earlier post. Tell me--Was a deposit required when making a reservation? If not, perhaps we should all reserve a future spot (and say we're dogless)---then cancel at the last minute. (LOL)
Taking the higher ground and trying to educate people like this is just a waste of time (IMO). Sorry...I have fought too many battles in my life. The only effective solution is to hit them where it hurts. Their pocket. RV parks do big business with people who won't go on vacation and leave their dogs behind. Therefore, my response to this dilema will be the following.....I'll email them later today and say something like....."I only purchased my stupid RV and patronized your type of facility because I could bring my dog. Now, I have to sell this stupid RV and save up for a vacation home in the Poconos. Thanks for nothing." (That will hurt.....for sure.)

Trailrider, You can still send that picture in... maybe we can clog up their servers with attachment photos of German shepherds who shows NO aggressiveness torwards other people ,children and other animals.
The only way that these companies can learn is that we teach them that the well bred German Shepherds are not vicious.
Blitzen, by the time I get thru with them.. they will LOL

I think they would just love to see Ranger in his service vest. I know I would, so you'd better get out that camera, Sunsilver. I wonder what they would have said if Blitz were also a service dog? Would he still have been refused?
Thanks, Brittany, give 'em hell.
