It looks like the most recent recall due to melamine contamination is being cedited to rice purchased from a company in China. I think I'll just stop here and not say anymore.

I just spent another 2 hours compairing dog food by the food analysis criteria. I have 2 better brands than what I am feeding now but am not going to change unless ther is a recall on the food I am feeding. I have already changed foods 4 times on this guy and don't want to again, his poops just turned perfect. Obviously his gut s adjusting to this change but I am disheartened that what I thougt wa s a good food scored so low. It scored a 2 out of 6 stars Natures Recipe, Adult, Lamb Meal and rice.
I can't possibly put my pup on a 6 star food, as they are all waaaaay too high in protein content for his age. I can't even find a 5 star food that is in the 21% protein rate we are looking for. The best I can find is California Naturals Herring and Sweet Potatoe formula, also CN chicken and rice is at 21%, Canadaes Lamb/Rice all life stages formula. All of these foods were rated a 4 stars out of 6 due to limited meat content, but how the hell else do you lower the protein content for a Pano pup?
Does anyone have aything to say on these foods? CN has far fewer ingredients, less chance of tainted food, but I guess I should weigh out, availability, price, size of bags and whatever else before I can say for sure which one I would use. I know both brands are sold at different places her in town, the problem is they do't always have the formula I want.

I had him on Ultra Premium it's at 23% but they either don't carry the other one or it's like way more per bag. I'll look again next time I am at that pet store. Like I said, he is on Natures Recipe right now and doing OK with it. I wont change him again, unless they have a recall.

Just FYI
Taurine deficiency in dogs and cats that are fed Lamb and Rice foods. One should add this amino acid to their pets food so good heart health is detained.
Good for people too most of us lack taurine and magnesium in our diets and we need it too. Go look up what the symptoms are from the lack of these supplements it's astonishing.
I feel much better since adding them to my diet.
Good Day!
