This is a MUST read for anyone remotely concerned about DM. http://duitseherderdatabase.nl/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/dm-modifier.pdf
The issue people have with the test *IS* the lack of science behind it. The argument from the other side, wrought with emotion (and rightfully so) is that we have the science and we should use it. Well, plenty of us do. But it's not enough. We are close(ish?) but as this study illustrates...we may be on the wrong track in terms of what actually causes DM in the GSD, and how prevalent (or not?) it is.

I don't reach the same conclusion regarding the GSD breed as is being suggested. It was not one of the specifically mentioned breeds in the Swedish study hypothesis. What it suggests is there are modifier genes, haloypes, that come into play with the gene that is currently available for testing. Four countries are seeking new patents for their own testing processes.
