From what I understood from vet tech anything above 1.6 on the creatinine is being looked at and watched, because of the dog food issues right now. I gave her the past results and she would not comment further.
From what I can gather the creatinine is not a dangerous level, but higher than should be. I would also guess at this point with the old records, their maybe some concern with it esculating. We are on hold until blood work next week.
However, knowing my Mom, I will bet Jewel is seeing a specialist this week and whatever is going on will be treated.
From my very limited knowledge, I do not see anything life threating, just maybe treatment needed to control the creatinine level from increasing any further, if it goes any higher.

(Urine protein)or creatinine Ratio in a normal dog is 0.6 and ratio of 1.0 or greater indicates significant protein loss with Specific Gravity being 1.012 to 1.040. (protein level should not exceed 100 mg/dl in any sample) Ph should be between 5.5 to 7.0, certain bacteria cause the urine pH to be higher indicative of prostate infection for example in the male dog.
If glucose is found in the urine it indicates diabetes mellitus.
Blood in the urine normally indicates cancers of the urinary tract and with bladder/kidney stones, or stone formation (IE crystals) anywhere in the urinary tract to be exact.
I prefer to use both (SUN serum urea nitrogen and BUN blood urea nitrogen) with the creatinine test. Doing both BUN and SUN together is way more reliable and a jump start for disease if traces are present anywhere and better understanding of the kidney function overall. BUN alone can base results on dehydration alone, SUN is the serum back-up to credit the actual level in the dog.
A biopsy of the kidneys is the only way to accurately determine the cause of kidney disease. My Edumicated Opinion.
If anyone would like to know a home-aid way to test your pets urine levels, contact me and I'll write you up a to-do-list and supplies. :o) It's quite simple if you think about it.

Anybody know who owns Royal Canin USA? Didn't I hear something about Hill's having bought the US version some years ago?

Shelly, look up this link and see what RC has to say about themselves.

My dogs were on RC, I took them off because of the wheat in the product. I can not beleive the difference in the dogs on EAGLE PACK,Holistic, and in such a short time, I also have no running stools . I do not work for them, and was just looking for a food with no wheat or corn (corn becuase of the Diamond recall last year). I also wanted a food that was made in their own plant, and also packaged there and not shipped somewhere else to package.
I know it is the wheat gluetin on recall, but everyday something was added to recall, so to be safe rather than sorry, no wheat at all. Eagle pack also has a diet verision in the Holistic.

Today in the paper, it states that Human and pet food recalls are voluntary, FDA does not order them.

SS,
Per the Royal Canin rep at the vets office. That Royal Canin bought out Waltham and Waltham also used to own Pedigree which I think was sold off to Nestle or someone else. But I know Hills does not have anything to do with Royal Canin!

On the news this morning, FDA states they have been unable to account for all of the wheat gluten that was shipped to USA. They have notified the CDC to be on the look out for Renial Failure in Humans. Can be found in Pasta, Bread, (I have forgotten the whole list they gave).
They think MOST of the pet food has been reomved from the shevles, but have found some stores with it still. They are also still coming up with more to add to the list on recall.
They also fianlly admitted there is no way they can come up with the numbers of pets affected.
