I also had my dog's on Flint River Ranch, but then I had two dog's constantly getting the runs, and lost a lot of weight. That is when someone had told me about Canidae. They have been on it ever since. Now I was also told to take 5-9 pieces of that dog food you are feeding your dog(s) and put it in a glass of water. If it bloats up then that means it's full of fillers, and if it doesn't bloat up with in a hour then that is premium food. Is that an accurate test? you tell me. I did it with Flint and it bloated up big time, and Canidae, only 3 pieces bloated up out of 9.

VBK9, thanks for the complete list. We feed Canine Caviar which is one listed on the good list. I was wondering about how Flint River Ranch was, I knew you fed it successfully.

Kelly, I have no idea whether kibble that "bloats up" with water has more filler than another, but imagine what it does in the stomach. Most kibbled feeds are LOADED with filler and junk anyway. Best Wishes, Jonah

jdh, That is exactly why I personally check by putting the food in a glass of water. If it bloats up really bad then I don't feed it to our dog's because it would do the same to their stomach. I do have to say when I first used Flint River Ranch it didn't bloat up in water, but 2 of our dog's had the runs, and one could not keep weight on. I checked the glass of water with Flint just last year and asked them if they changed their food at all, because it bloated up big time. They said no. A family member was using it on their dog and I wanted to see what would happen if you put it in water, and that's the result we got. As of now we stick behind Canidae. Like I said in my earlier statement, every dog is different and it my not work for your dog, but it might be excellent for mine. It's like I might like one kind of food, that you would get sick over. hodie, Thanks a lot for the information. I think there is a missing "e" on my username when you hit the reply button. As of last week, he weighs 73 lbs @ almost 8 months. He is lean, and my vet even suggested that he really did not grow that fast. I wickered him and about 25 inches at the shoulder. Again thanks a lot for the information. DukeAloha
