If I had room, I would definitly consider the pup.  I know how hard it is to place a pup with Mega E.  Cirberus was not an "intended" keep from the litter.  I actually was planning on keeping the other female.  6 dogs and 3 of them puppies was too much though and I had to let my choice female go.

Good luck.  Start up a thread with pictures.  We would love to watch the puppy grow while it is in your home.  You never know too; someone on here may have the perfect home for the pup.

He is the cutest little red tri Aussie! At least he is when I'm not cleaning up after him. I have never had a pup so darn difficult to housebreak. I'm hoping persistence wins in the end. For now, I'm having fun working and cuddling him. He is listed on at least two sites so I'm hoping I find the right people for him before too long especially as his ME is pretty manageable compared to others.

Aww and an Aussie to boot.   Maybe trade for awhile?  Teeth Smile  You work on Cirberus getting over her issues with the see-saw and I work on the puppy housebreaking.  (I am only half joking.  If you are in Texas and willing to trade training for training....).

Unfortunately, I'm in the frozen north so not able to work in the training swap. I do teach my puppies the teeter right away at 8 weeks. Maybe I could just fly him down for housebreaking - make sure you have LOTS of paper towels and cleaner - and you can send him back when you are done?

I am all for that.  I love puppies.    My husband may not be so happy though....   You should have seen the looks I got for a week when I brought home the kittens I found on the side of the road.

I have a 5 dog limit.  If I want a puppy, one of the other have to go.   Wink Smile

If you still have him in March when things start to thaw.... Give me a shout.

I took poop in on the whole herd today. Turns out Rush has two types of coccidia but my herd is negative. As the spawn just broke with diarrhea yesterday, I'm guessing he has it but isn't shedding any yet. I'm treating the entire herd as they are probably all infected and crossing my fingers this will help with Rush's pooping problem. I stopped on the way home and picked up a different brand of small puppy food to see if that won't help with the shear volume of poop. Rush pooped in the crate in my car and sat in it. Sigh. Are you sure you don't want him now?

Hmmm.  That tells me his mom was not around long enough to teach not to soil in den.  It is so critical for a pup to be with mom from 6-8 weeks.  They learn things that make the human's life much easier.  If he is ill though, it will make control next to none.  Every 30 minutes of outside time maybe what it takes for a while.  Wish I was there to help.

Start a thread on the pup.  Lots of good advice ill be given on the house training.  Don't forget the pup's age, as that makes a difference on the best method.

IMO, it has little to do with time and much more to do with how clean she kept them while they were together. I've had litters done w/mom at 3 weeks and they're fastidious, and bought pups who were with their dams until 7-8 weeks or later and they're impossible to housebreak because they weren't kept clean or had inattentive dams. I won't even breed a dog like that (not a good mother).

The pups I have now were weaned at 3 weeks and they're very clean- they raise quite a ruckus to go outside and they're only 7 weeks old.

After all the puppies and adult dogs I've house broken over the years, I'm an old hand at it. The hard part is he doesn't seem to mind laying in his own filth and he's the first dog I've ever had like this. I'm hoping that by dealing with the coccidia which should help with the uncontroled urge to poop, and changing his food which should help with the volume of poop, I might finally get this under control.

I know nothing about his breeder other than the state she's in and that she was more responsible about this pup than most breeders I deal with in rescue. No idea what his mom was like or the conditions he was in.

Good news is it's been 24 hours of no poop in my house or car, but I've been with him the whole time. Can't do much for him when I'm at work. He does seem even perkier than before so hoping the meds are making him feel better already.
