I appreciate the gesture Echo, and thank you for it. This type of situation is why I stopped coming to this message board, which is a shame because there is a wealth of information and experience to be tapped if one did not have to filter through so much rubbish first.

well good questions like yours are not easy to come by, frankly I appreciate your effort to re engage those who care.
Hope you won't give up on us here, There are many here who still wish to continue our education and share our expeiriences.
Stick around the mud will settle and things will be clear soon. :-)
Let me ask you if you don't mind ?
If a male is a K-9 certified dog who has an excellent temperament, and confirmationally compliments your female would you breed to him ? (assuming all health issues are also screened and cleared.)
If so can you list the why's ?
If not can you list the why's ?
Kind of a two part ? sorry bout that.
I am genuinly curious how you feel about the ? you have asked. (whispering... and trying to get you to stay with us.)

K91,
Not being a breeder my feedback may not be of any real value to you. I just felt it was important to throw some practical thought into this.Trusting you know what a good dog is, what good temperament is, a hard dog with courage and overall a REAL working dog that has good working conformation as well, then the only thing else that I would want to know is what is behind this dog. Does he come from good stock or is he just one that turned out exceptional. What is behind him is important.
If you are happy with all of the above then breed. If you are concerned with producing truly good working dogs then why not. You wouldn't get much for the pups so your only motive would be that you see this dog as a true representative of the GSD.and desire to give others the chance to have a good dog.
Personally, I want good dogs!!!!!!!!! Period! I have not read the long thread on breeding titled dogs as I wasn't particularly interrested in it, so I don't know what all the breeders feel. I just know that I want real dogs that do real stuff. Titles don't assure that, just increase your chances of getting something good. But if we are talking about breeding to pass on good traits and you have a great dog that will do that then why not. Let me say this, if you have such a litter I would not hesitate to take one since I am concerned with good dogs. I will take a good strong, hard working dog with no title over one with titles that was inferior to the other one. This is all assuming the dog is clearly able to earn titles, just had other priority's, like working for a living. But thats just me, I will take my dependable little Honda over my neighbors Beemer thats broke down all the time. No offense to you BMW owners, its just an analogy.

Hello,
the question was : Would you wave the SV standart for breeding ? Most certainly not.
This may be less important for you guys in the US, for a breeder within the SV in Germany, this would not be desireble. Actually, this would be considered a "Wildbreeding" which will lead to, that the pups will not recieve pink papers. On top, if done knowingly,(accidents happen), there are peneltys in place, that do get inforced. At the moment when a future breeder here has his kennel name resgistered with the SV, he/she agrees to obey the breeding rules and standarts by the SV. -Period-
Another thing that would be of the biggest concerns for me : Who are the ancesters of the said dog ? Without knowing that, there would be no breeding for me. All these rules and regulation, are sometimes hard to understand, but they do make sense in the long run.
I do understand, that one would wish to carry one these good traits of an untitelt dog, then go ahead titekl him, and do your breeding afterwords. Problem is, you will have, lets say 5 pups without proper paperwork, 2 will get bred also, now you have allready 15 dogs w/o papers. Now one owner thinks, what the heck, has no paperwork, plays nicely with the neighbours poodledoodle lets mate them.....and so on & on.... i doubt thet that would be desireble.
Kind Regards

If the dog Poses' all the drives and Genetic funtionality that the original German Shepherd Dogs Were Bred For Then A Title Would only be a Piece of Paper Sch. is Just A routine I Work with many Depts. and Protection Dogs For Security Firms To know a Dog that Does Schutz. Does Not Necessarily. Posess the Drive For Real Work.
I have Seen dogs with Multiple Sch3's and you take them off the field they cant do squat. i have also seen them perform well.
i guess what i am trying to say is that Schutzhund is not a true test of ability it is a routine that doesnt change. I brought in a 39x sch3 male that was incredible in all phases of schutz. i could basically drop him off at the field and show up after lunch and he has another sch3 title; a routine is not a test of tempermant but i guess it is better then nothing.

Simpkins, ahh someone else who feels the same...so nice to know I am not alone! Pattern, pattern, pattern. Like I said on another thread, I could train a goat to run the blinds and do the routine, given enough time to train.
