The age of the pup is of concern since he was a level 3. whatever that is. Why does he need more training if already at that level? Likely the broker saw that he is not what he was advertised as and is trying to train himself. Males are slow to mature anyway. He is still a pup. Breeding both parents with bad hips is a big question mark in itsself. As for your kids you will have to make that call but myself I likely would never leave alone. Watch for kids swinging sticks etc in case he thinks he gets a bite. I won't have a male around my kids unless he was raised from a pup with them. Remember, none of us have ever seen your dog, he may be a excellent dog. We are just throwing out suggestions to try to help you nake good decisions. Not meaning to insult you or your new dog. Hope he turns out great and you really enjoy him.

no no DR , that's what i'm looking for here. 1 i know he was imported from hungary, and as far as i know the ''training they are doing'' is just more of working him to make sure he is what he was avertised, also maybe on the commands? since he was not taught in english?. again thanks too all. KKR

Level 3 seems to pretty similar on all the sites I look at. Here is a quote from dopedog.com on their level 3 training. There is no way an 8 month old could be a level 3. Level 3 Executive Protection Dog * Titled in one of the following KNPV, French Ring, SVV, Schutzhund * Defend Handler from vehicle. * Perform a security check for persons in office or residence. * Advanced Obedience * Ability to direct K-9 to alternate attacker. * Higher level of the above listed titles. * Escort and re-attack (K-9 will escort prisoner to desired location and will bite and hold, if prisoner re-attacks or tries to escape.) * Alert on Command (bark and show signs of aggression, on-leash) * Be Quiet on Command (quiet and return to heel or down position, on-leash) * Bite and Hold (bite attacker and hold until release is given, off-leash) * Release and Guard on Command (release bite and guard attacker, off-leash) * Pursue and Apprehend (K-9 will chase, bite and hold attacker, off-leash) * Exposed to a variety of environments. * Price:$12,500.00 -$20,000.00 + Delivery with 2 day handler course

he is still a puppy, maybe a good puppy but you will find that out. Just learn his commands..no matter the language.. You don't want the "bad" guy telling you dog what to do., that's why police etc use different languages or words...you can even make up your own words,,,the dog doen't care... I have seen six month old females tear a sleeve up, but still a puppy and not ready for real protection..

meanderer990: This reads like a Branko M. advertisement out of Serbia? Nothing in this description will hold through other than the dog has been worked in protection for a quick sale.

DR please give me some ages that he would be ready? more like 18-24 mo? Uvar: i looked at branko site, really sketchy about send someone that kinda money without talking specifics of what i want. he was more of a send me money then we talk. by the way i think you need level 3 atleast? my reply was well sir send me some pictures and pedigree's of dogs available and we can go from there, next reply was bank instructions and a 1/2 non-refundable down then he'd look for me a dog?? as for what you posted must not have seen that site, but i'm not paying anyone 12,5-20k i don't care if the dog can do a backflip, my family are not prisoners. as for the dog, we live on post right now and i'm not worried, but will be moving back to tacoma/seattle area in roughly a year when he will be 2yrs old. and i'm sure by then plenty capable of "protecting" my family.

KKR Gsd02 There is a little bit more to say about the "sales skills" of Branko. He will try to get in touch with your wife. Married or single, dozens of American women have fallen for his advances and his deep sexy voice. You wouldn't think that any reasonable American is willing to spend thousands of dollars for a run down dog sold with a beautiful picture, no health certificates of any value or issued by who knows(?), and best of all an altered or completely irrelevant FCI pedigree. In other words, the dog does not belong to the pedigree. There are several affiliated brokers located throughout USA who draw dogs from Branko. Some of these outfits have now dropped any reference to his website or his person but they still get dogs from him. Horrible dogs of the working breed. USA has been polluted with hundreds of his dogs.

To be very honest I bought a 9 month old male from a top kennel for $2500.00. He had VA Sire and V dam. He was a very nice boy but he was not raised with kids. He turned on my 1 year old daughter. Luckily I never allowed him around her alone. He had a crazed look in his eyes trying to get to her as I held her over my head with one hand and hit and kicked him away. He only left one small mark on her but if I had not been there to fight him off it would have been bad. I am also very strong and aggressive but it was hard to fight him off. Saying that I will never allow a child to be around a male GSD alone. I do plan to get a male GSD sometime but it will be a pup that is raised with my family as I still have one small child. My seven yr old female loves kids so I don't have to worry about her. Your male will be maturing around 2.5 to 3 years of age. Some dogs are more natural defenders than others but the training is the key. He needs to be able to tell the difference between a bad guy and a 3 year old kid waving a stick in the air.

As I said earlier Uvar that quote was from dopedog.com
