And that poor mother got 20 years for firing warning shots??   Something is seriously wrong here.

by Blitzen on 14 July 2013 - 23:07

You bet there is something seriously wrong here (in FL). It's hard to argue against the notion that had Zimmerman stayed in his car and waited for the police to arrive, Martin would be alive today. He was well versed in the SYG law; personally I feel as if he knew exactly what he was doing.  There will be a civil suit, count on that.

I liked this and thought I would share--stolen off FB of course..............

The DOJ may wait until the civil case is decided?

by Blitzen on 15 July 2013 - 10:07

Instead of hiding behind anonymous "dislikes" why not just step up to the plate for once and say why you pressed the dislike button?

I think it's a good thing if the case is being reviewed.  Right, wrong, or indifferent, if there is ever such a large outcry from the people, someone ought to be listening.  In a system with so many breakdowns, more checks is a good thing.  That this is a matter of civil rights is however, a complete waste of time, and is a great disservice to the case -either side.

I agree Blitzen about the dislikes. But whatever. Carlin you have taken the thoughts out of my head. JMO but this is a very emotional thing for a lot of people and I think a civil lawsuit is only going to drag it out further, spend money needlessly on more court and lawyers and do absolutely nothing but fan the flames.....................We need to move along and try to let this die down as we did with Casey Anthony................

by Blitzen on 15 July 2013 - 13:07

I have mixed feelings about this. My problem with not filing a civil suit and letting Zimmerman get away with tracking down and killing an unarmed 17 year old for being where he was allowed to be is that it's going to encourage more to do the same.  You have to live in FL  to understand how viral racism is in this state.

Likes, dislikes, who gives a shit, it's the work of someone who thinks it's a contest.

I have lived in Florida, and I have been chased out of a gated community, it's more about wealth and social status than race in my experience.
They live in fear trust me, and most of them have paid security not this neighborhood watch crap.

Self defense?
Let's see here now, I stalk and confront someone on the street, get in a fight with them and then, when I'm getting my ass whipped I shoot them and claim my life was in mortal danger.
Is that how it works?

For the record, a seventeen year old is fully capable of being lethal, not a child at all.

Fact is, Zimmerman will live in fear now for the rest of his life, everyone knows his name and face, my guess is he'd not be hard to find even if he moves somewhere else.
