I am so sorry Kamilion..... I have been there with past dog as well.

I still can believe, I watch the X-ray all the time.......Excellent sire and damn, good quality food, supplemetn for join. Firstly I was thinking maybay the position is wrong.......The dog never show any symptomns of dysplasia.....It is so difficult to deal with this.

Before I got all wigged out about these hips, I would point out that these are terrible x-rays. The positioning is so bad that you realistically can't say much about the hips. I would have them redone by a vet that does hip x-rays all the time for this purpose. Maybe this is normal where you are, but the fact that there's zero identification on the x-ray itself leads me to believe this was done by a local vet and not one that specializes in pictures for official evaluation.

Over here, there are only a handful of vets in an area that anyone would go to for official x-rays and all the show people know who they are and they come highly recommended. Maybe you could ask around to find out who does a good job over there and try again?

You gave me a little hope....I send the X-Ray to two diffrent vets by email and asked them for opinion. The both told -Position is not correct but right hip is no good. I am wondering to repeat the X-ray. Maybay someone  on the forum can recommend me good vet in South-West England?

Please don't be too sad,

Looking at the xrays the left (my left side) hip is higher than right &  Patellas are not level and left is over rotated
Your dog is tilted, all in all it is a terrible xray.

Get a better xray.

The positioning of the dog is very bad, however IMO it's still diagnostic. There are clearly issues with the right hip - shallow socket and obvious remodeling. I don't think another xray is going to make any difference at all, but if you feel strongly about it, then by all means have him done again.

You know this doesn't mean that you can't train and title him, it only means he's not a breeding candidate. He may never have any lameness issues. Most everyone here can understand how you feel, we've been there ourselves. The only way to be sure about hips on any GSD is to buy an older dog that has already been xrayed clear and certified.

The BVA would score these x-rays, 1 of them anyway, the first 2 x-rays will not pass under 18,probably neither hip would pass, the positioning is terrible as can be seen in all 3 x-rays but is better in the 3rd x-ray,  i agree with Blitzen that there is re modeling and shallow socket still on one hip and will unlikely pass as it will not improve. I too have seen  better looking hips fail BVA/KC breeding recommendations.
I have never seen knees on any of my x rays so have often wondered if the positioning was as good as it could have been.I have also never been allowed to have more than one x-ray to choose from, your post looks like the vet took 3 separate x-rays to get the best one to send in,does this cost extra? is it normal practice ?

by kamilion on 10 August 2013 - 10:08

I have feel they make use me, my English is poor. The vet did 5 x-ray of elbows and 8 of hips. I asked them (if I decide to send this to BVA WHICH ONE YOU WILL SEND) , the vets said all of them. I thougt only one can be send but vet said NO we can send all of them.    B.V.A will make a decision which one is the best to score it. The vets told they had to  make so many x ray because the dog was difficult to put him in right position- the dog was under sleeping- (anestethic).  I paid 455 pounds.
Well-I feel - when you are stupid like me people use you and you pay for this.
