Looks like Demodex to me.My dog was just diagnosed with that,too.The area is around her left eye.No scratching or rubbing.She was first treated with an antibiotic eye ointment,but not better.It was suggested by the vet to have a scrapping done.Yes, it was Demodex.I do treat her now with oral Ivermectin.I was told by the vet,that usually dogs under the age of 1 or older dogs are being affected by these mites.But usually a lot of dogs have the mites on them,as their autoimmune system becomes weakend due to stress or disease the mites can affect the dog.
They live in the hair-follicles but will carry over to humans or other dogs.
