Blaineric- I am sorry for misunderstanding it was this comment that made me think you were not too concerned about knowing all the details "because the individuals that should have dealt with it failed to step up to the task." I don't think anyone said they needed to know all the gruesome details just some of the basics before throwing blame.

Pirates Liar,
The dog got loose from the man's house and chased us. The owner tried to get it and a man in a truck hit it right in front of all of us.

Pirate's Lair,
Wow. It seriously amazes me how insensitive you are. I wrote that post asking for some prayers for the little dog. Instead all you care about are the facts. Here they are. My husband and I went running on the road. We live in the country. The neighbor's dog escaped when we were cooling down in front of our house. The man went to get his dog and a different man in a truck ran the dog over WITHOUT stopping. I saw the dog shatter in front of me. The owner was distraught. We buried the dog for him because he couldn't. I only wanted some kind thoughts sent for the dog. I really find it a shame you would rather have every portion of the story instead of just sending some good thoughts for the pup.

Thank you to everyone who did respond with kind words. I think its safe to say we all understand how an accident can happen. The man's dog bolted out his front door when he was getting ready for work. He will have to live with that for the rest of his life. Leashes had nothing to do with this.

Insensitive you say? That was not my intention, my intention was to ask for clarification of your post. Which by the way you have still not done.
Would you have thought me insensitive if I had said- Poor dog, brutally run down in the street.....how did it happen? Did the leash break while he was being walked and something startled him which caused him to run out on to the road, and then some cruel driver swerved to hit him and kept on driving without stopping?
Please tell me what happened, people are so cruel!
I'm going to take a wild guess and say....this was probably not the first time your neighbor's dog "escaped it yard". Unfortunately for the dog, it was the last time.
Have you ever witnessed this same dog escape its yard before, while you and your husband were cooling down after your run?
I'll bet you have, and you thought it was cute...maybe even encouraged it.
Did you ever suggest to your neighbor that it was not safe for their dog to run out and greet you?
You call me insensitive?
Your post has nothing to do with the unfortunate death (which could have, and should have been prevented) of a dog.
I think this post is all about YOU and what a good Samaritan you are, or you think you are.
Integrity is not what you seem to be when all eyes are on you. It’s who you are when no one is looking. (character is what you are in the dark). It’s a level of morality below which you never fall, no matter what’s happening around you. It’s a high standard of honesty
Have a look in the mirror, you can't deceive the person looking back at you.

Please clarify your comments below
- The dog got loose from the man's house and chased us
- The man's dog bolted out his front door when he was getting ready for work
- The neighbor's dog escaped when we were cooling down in front of our house
What really happened?
I'm glad you stepped up to the plate and helped out your neighbor, and I'm sorry a dog died.

I just looked at your "Avitar" (the graphical representation of the user or the user's alter ego or character)
It suggest that you Own or/ and or Handle a Working Dog........Police/Sar/Etc
May I politely ask what you do .......and what your dog does? Do you actually own a dog?
And if so..........on the fateful day when Diego died ,.... when you and your husband were out for a run/cooling down .......where was your dog?
Your Avitar suggest that you own a working dog.......yet... you never mentioned your dog in the story?
Where was your dog? In a crate? While your out for a run?
Reason being, is that ......if your Avitar represents you and your dog..........what do you do, and what are your accomplishments with the dog in your Avitar ?
In my mind.....your Avitar suggest that you are a trained professional, which puzzles me.
A trained professional (and there are many reading this, (Jenni excluded) would clearly understand my questions and concerns about your entire post and your altruistic motives.
And to answer your question in advance.......my Avitar represents exactly who I am....I have no accomplishments,
I'm just a Pirate playing with my puppies
I look forward to your response to all of my questions.
Sincerely
Kim Moore

Wow. I am not going to answer any of the above. It's mean spirited and rude. I get on here to talk with other dog people. I am not on here to hurt others.

1. I am sorry to hear about the death. No matter how it happened, death is sad and heart breaking. I hope the owner remembers the good times and it warms their heart when they remember the lose.
2. Lessoned learned to me (and all), I need to be even more diligent to insure I always have control of my dogs. I too have had insistence where my older dog gets out uncontrolled. He is a master Houdini and electric fence is the only thing that has stopped him.
Being responsible for a living thing is an every day, every minute responsibility. I would never trade having a dog (s) in my life; I would only trade the heart break and hard lessons that come.
Peace to Diego. You are now in a perfect world. Please tell all who have gone before you hello and give an extra hug to those who follow.
