GSDtravels

Dear Thomas, I'd like to share another slice of the day I took those pictures of the dog.  See, it was my day off, actually my only day off, other than Sunday.  But two days before, I had to tell a family that they could no longer live in their house.  The woman is mentally challenged, with two children.  The older child is also mentally challenged and the young boy is severely autistic.  They have a Pitt Bull and he is a great dog, very sweet, and attached to the autistic child.  I'm not sure if you know what happens when there are any changes in the life of such a child, but one change in their routine can throw them completely out of whack.  I was asked to come in that day to deal with her removal.

Can you imagine a sudden change like being uprooted from your home?  This mother loves her children but is ill equipped to care for them in some ways.  They are a unit and just surviving in one of the worst neighborhoods in the area.  They are clean, polite, the bills are paid and I have to uproot them and totally change their lives.... forever.

When I left there, I stopped to see the dog I assisted in saving, to make myself feel better.  Sorry if I had share the good part of my day, but sometimes it helps.

Here, thought I'd share a few pictures of the lovely home they were living in...

This tree was dragged from the dump and she decorates it for every holiday.  This was her Easter tree.

Do you see how the cushions on the sofa are all up?  Do you know why?  That's so the rats can't nest there when they're not sitting down.

Here's the master bedroom and the bedding is off of the bed for the same reason.

Here's the second bedroom, isn't it a nice shade of, uh, what would you call that color?

Then there are the stairs...

Just one corner of the kitchen, the floor is ready to cave in from not only leaking pipes, but holes in the roof.

Would you wash dishes in this sink?  Would you even bother?

Would you like some eggs?

So now, tell me Thomas, how did you spend your Friday?

And because of BSL, they will most likely lose their dog, because no matter where they're placed, he won't be welcomed.

Clean, polite sane people don't live in a dump like that. The son with autism has a lot bigger problems to deal with (crazy Mother and brother) then losing his pit bull.  Do the family a favor and get the kids out of that house, away from their mother and into foster care.

GSDtravels,
Why bother responding or explaining?  I see deplorable living conditions all the time, usually not that bad.  You could explain yourself all day on here and some people will never get it.  I'm glad the family is now receiving the help they so badly need and you were able to rescue the original dog in the post.  Here's a big pat on the back for you.  Thumbs Up  Star

Thanks Slamdunc.  If anyone would understand, it would be you Rose

Slam,

Where do you get  "the family is now receiving the help they so badly need"?
I read they're being evicted. I'd also guess with all the mental health problems they have that they're on some kind of public
assistance. What kind of rent were tax payers forking over for that dump (section 8?)?.
What does any of this have to do with dogs or dog training?

Thomas, I hope you pass those kidney stones real soon.

Hexe
You'd look less ignorant if you waited till you had something intelligent or at least relevant to offer to the discussion instead of just posting your usual nonsense.
