"But FH2 how does that help is superior tracking something that can be genetic." Some people would say it is a genetic trait. "How come a Zamp or Quantum puppy cant be better than mine." A Zamp or Quantum pup certainly COULD be better. Or it could be worse. Not every breeding produces great or even good pups, regardless of how good the sire is. There have been VA1s who were totally outshone as producers by dogs who finished well behind them. Remember too that the sire only contributes 50% of the pup's genetics. "Doesnt that puppy have higher chance to be a VA than mine." Maybe so, but not as much as you might think. For example, the following VA dogs from 96-98 were NOT sired by VAs: Lasso vom Neuenberg, Natz vom Steigerhof, Shanto's Xano, Leif von der Noriswand, Scott vom Deodatus, Jango vom Furstenberg, Timo vom Berrekasten, Fello vom Farbenspiel and Ursus von Batu. Can my pup be a VA That's like asking if a 4-year-old who runs pretty fast could grow up to win the Olympic 100-meter dash: the answer is maybe.

can't blame the dog for not making VA Its a whole lot in the hands of the handler trainer.....% of that's a debatable question of all the ages..wrong training can mess up any good/excellent genetic trait.....

wasn't Ursus sired by VA1 Hobby vom Gletschertopf but he wasnt a German VA I think. Babyeagle4u my dog has SV papers and I still have to get his AKC papers i havent had time to get it

What is Better a dog of a VA1 in another country or a German rated from a V30-40 I mean I know ratings arent just everything. A dog thats like VA is obviously better LOW V rating. Thats what I mean

LOL FH2 SchH3 or VA dont mean that pup will be better then pup from SchH1,wake up you will never know what you will get, study the dogs know them SchH3 is not evan to SchH3 dog,I have seen great pups from females with no titles and crapy pups from SchH3 FH2 AD KKL1 females 12,000 for a pup who sells those pups???

"I know ratings arent just everything." Bingo. Eventually you'll come to the conclusion that the only way to decide what the "whole dog" brings to the table is to see the dog himself both moving and working, and from there to see his progeny moving and working. But that's not easy to do unless you are able to spend a lot of time in Germany attending shows and visiting kennels to see dogs work, so the writings of people like Fred Lanting who do put in the time are very useful. His 2006 Sieger Show critique is linked below; he has some very strong opinions, to say the least: http://www.aniwa.com/en/chien/Grand_Public/document/102350/126430/index.htm "A dog thats like VA is obviously better LOW V rating." The VA dog would most likely have better conformation than the low V dog. But it's not like the low V dog is hobbling along - the differences are quite narrow. And again, the VA dog might not be a great producer and the low V dog might be. But the VA dog will get five times more breedings - and thus five times the opportunity to put together a decent-looking Progeny Group - just because he is VA.

That's ok, I paid $1500.00 and got a pup that pulled up a testicle and now only has one!!! :-(

Well, I guess I'm the smart one here. I payed $250 (plus some engine work) for my GSD from my co-workers neighbor's son-in-law. I bred him the Dachshund and made all my money back. Remember - breeding is KEY to making your money back! PROFITS.
