My Huskies do this if I wait too long to feed them in the morning. Well, two of them do it. They'll start eating grass (I was told because of acid build up, not sure if that's true)....to make themselves throw up. If they do it, it's that yellow bile. With that said, if I stop them while they're eating the grass, and bring them back inside and feed them, they don't throw up. So now I wake up, feed them, take them out.....no one ever throws up. I think my guys just get hungry early in the morning. So typically I don't usually see this anymore. Even if I did wait until after they threw up bile though, they'll eat right after they did that.

Yes Guy what you've described is pretty typical - GSDs not the only breed that do this, either !
But the OP was concerned because of the frequency with which the particular bitch was doing it,
which did seem unusual ...

I read eating grass was natures way of deworming. It wraps around the worms and expels them.

by Hundmutter on 03 October 2012 - 19:10
Well I don't think I would rely on that

No more than one would rely on dogs rolling in dead animal to deter fleas, however, that to is why they do that, at least that is what the 'experts' think.

I also read that some SS bowls made in China were contaminated with lead I believe it was.

Rose is still vomiting. It is not every day, but it still happens 2 - 3 times a week.
This morning, there was a green tinge to it and it had undigested food. She had eaten 3 + hours before and she just came back from a 45 minute walk (her running and exploring).
Forgot to add:
I gave her another Pepcid. Is it time to give her the Reglan like the vet suggested? (still not liking the medication, but maybe the cure is better than what ever is going on).
Next break, I am going to take her temp just to make sure there is nothing there.

Fawn - wanting to help but feeling useless as I don't know what Reglan is, or what your
concerns about it are. Never heard of it over here (altho' we may have it under a different
name ?)
If your vet suggested you use it, then maybe yes, now is the time; or you could take her
back to the vet instead ...
I don't think you should fret about it containing a little of her undigested breakfast at that time,
but I don't particularly like the sound of the 'green tinge' unless you can think of something she
might have eaten that could explain it. May be theres some infection, which could explain the
greater frequency of the vomiting bile.
Was her temperature raised when you took it ?
Could she still be 'cleaning up' after her pups occasionally, even though they are getting big now ?
Are her bowels still normal ?

Bowels are normal. Temp was average. Full name on Rx is Metoclopramide. She got a hold of some thing she should not have on Monday, so we had to force vomit everything out of her stomach. As a result, we are taking things easy a bit. Nothing goes in that i am not 100% sure about.
Thanks for your concern.

There was something long term negative about this medicine. Let me look it up again.
