Shtal hate to bust your bubble but I have learned nothing from you other than I am glad you're not my neighbor. In other words I've known these things for a long time--it just seems lately I have been in the mood to get into this.
As far as the buffet and picking and choosing it has mostly always been that way. What about the Lost Scrolls? I guess they're all BS because they weren't put in the Bible. What about the Scriptures that Mary Magdalane-spelling-wrote--she wrote a whole gospel. Guess that was all BS too. Altho from what I have learned if one does study that it tells a lot about Jesus that is otherwise not talked about in the New Testament. In other words the NT takes Jesus from the age of 12 to the age of 35. What happened in between there? There are many other writings that does discuss his life. Why wasn't that put in the Bible? Could it be that noone wanted it to be common knowledge that Jesus was a common man? Sure he  had this religious thing going and ran around the country preaching this and that. No different then a lot of people do today. In fact if you stop and think about it, it's not much different today then what we consider a cult. Oh yes. I know you don't want to hear that because it goes against everything you believe but again folks the Bible was written by men who believed as they did. The NT was absolutely written by common men who believed that Jesus was the true Son of God. They believed--they had faith--doesn't make it so.
GSD I agree with you about spending your life in eternity with child molesters, animal abusers, etc. But since there is no place like heaven or hell unless again you have a deep seated faith in a MAN, I don't think we'll have to worry about it.  I don't think a heaven or hell has been proved--again it is a matter of faith and what one believes.

Also it is my understanding that repenting of your sins and automatically becoming a Christian does not excuse what you have done. You are still responsible for the things you have done in your life.
Carla Faye Tucker committed a horrendous crime--the person was gurgling as they died and in her drug induced state that drove her crazy. So she went on a hacking spree till they stopped. Oh yeah, like quite a few she got religion in jail. She had mega penpals. she taught the Bible in prison but the bottom line is she was executed for her crimes. Do you think when she got where she was going they just opened up the gates and said oh Carla we're so happy you're here.
Let me make this one point--becoming a Christian in jail/prison is all well and fine BUT I say the real proof is IF that person gets out then we see the truth. when you are locked up and cannot get to whatever put you in your situation is one thing--it's ez to say I repent and I have changed and all that jazz. Very little chance of a child molester or serial killer changing their ways when they are free and the world is a buffet line to them..............Oh yes it's been done but how often? I don't know the percentages but I bet it is a very very low number..................

Admin - where did you get the idea that "most  molestation is done against the same sex"?  I don't think
the research would bear you out on that,  men against small girls was still in the majority last time I
checked, even tho' it doesn't make such 'interesting' headlines ...
As for the "buffet picking" approach - if that was true the majority of the population would still be voting
against the possibility and legalisation of divorce, wouldn't they - just one example.

Luke 14:33 Jesus said And so whoever is not ready to give up all he has may not be my disciple; in other words Jesus Christ could not be your teacher even if Jesus still really wants it. Example: If you attend College/school and have goal to earn diploma but you started miss classes to many times and during that time the teacher will come up to you and say, dear student I cannot be your teacher anymore even I really still do, you missed to many classes.

What is very interesting that you have to make real commitment to him in order for Jesus Christ to become your teacher.

What Jesus Christ wants and how is written John 4:23 But the time is coming, and is even now here, when the true worshippers will give worship to the Father in the true way of the spirit, for these are the worshippers desired by the Father.

Human being could live through all of his life thinking that Jesus Christ is his/her teacher, but dear reader think within yourself is Jesus Christ is he really is your teacher; yes or no?

Pual said Philippians 3:8 Yes truly, and I am ready to give up all things for the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, which is more than all: for whom I have undergone the loss of all things, and to me they are less than nothing, so that I may have Christ as my reward,

So the truth is only God and no longer my personal will.

If I with my heart attached to sinful/earthly life and not heavenly; it means I could not learn from Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ could not be my teacher.

But Paul made commitment and said Galatians 2:20 I have been put to death on the cross with Christ; still I am living; no longer I, but Christ is living in me; and that life which I now am living in the flesh I am living by faith, the faith of the Son of God, who in love for me, gave himself up for me.

That is why I said overcomer inherits everything. (Revelation 21:7)

There is a story that I want to share; long time ago one preacher in our church gave very interesting story as an example.

Once upon time their was man lived in very nice house, but one day he heard a knocking on his front door, but this man wonder who that might be?
He open the door – and their was Jesus Christ standing and Jesus said may I come in and stay in your home, the man said sure, I have a оne room available upstairs – you could stay their. So Jesus went in small room upstairs and closed his door and stayed.

Later, this man heard a loud knocking on his front door, he wonder who might be this time, so he opens a door and he saw a devil standing their, the man got scared and he shot his door quickly. Later – he heard another – but very load this time knocking on his front door, the man open the door and he saw same devil standing again, he tried to close the door again but the devil said he wants to come in into his home, but man said no – and he struggle very hard not to let devil enter his house – after long fight – he manage to shot his door again without letting devil to enter his home.

Later, he heard same loud knocking again on his front door, man got very scared this time, so he remembered about Jesus Christ that was staying in his house in the small room upstairs of the house.
The man went upstairs knocked on the door, Jesus open the door – the man said to Jesus, here is my keys of my house – please be the owner of my house and I will stay in this little room instead you this time, Jesus replies to the man - sure!!!

Later, their was same loud knocking had happened in front door of the house again, but this time Jesus was in charge – so Jesus opened the door and their was a devil standing again, but when the devil saw Jesus standing, devil immediately apologize and said to Jesus, sorry I got to the wrong house and devil left.

So the outcome from this Jesus Chirst has to be your owner of your heart/house and doing so he becomes your teacher and Saver.

I have not seen much, if any controversy among Orthodox Bible scholars as to whether or not the Bible has been preserved ,,If unbelieving folks don't believe the scriptures then why worry about it's content.??.

I believe that God is the creator of the universe and therefore believe that God has the ability to provided me with all things necessary in His Word..It is not that I have trusted mans ability to provide me with an accurate account of Gods Word, but my trust is in Gods ability to do so..

Vonissk,,We definitely agree on a few things...But, unless you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and not just some religious person there is not forgiveness of sin,,A religious man is not good enough to take away sin ..FWIW I think that most professing Christians are not Christians, but a product of the false doctrine of salivation that is preached in 75 percent of churches today...

Hundmutter,,I am not sure what you mean in your post above,,

Moons,

Let me get it straight why do you care what I post; Moons you are unbeliever, you don't believe that God is real - how could I offend people with Bible posts.

Who is more irrational me believing in God that I don't see or anybody offended by God that he/she dosen't believe in and what I post.

Indeed, Moons.

I've never gotten a straight answer to a question I've posed many times...hell, I've never gotten an answer at all but here goes anyway: do people who believe in the bible find it the least bit puzzling that there were at least ten other religions that predated Christianity, some by hundreds of years, that had almost the same messiah story?  Many of them went so far as to have had their messiah born on December 25th to a virgin mother, who had 12 disciples, performed miracles, etc. and who was crucified and came back from the dead.  If the story about Jesus is true, how could these other religions have possibly known and written about it hundreds of years before it happened?
