Funny, The way I have always heard it was the dog is a puppy for his/her first twelve months. So puppy food for the first twelve months and adult after. Eukanuba puppy and adults are Eukanuba 30/20 and at times mixed with Eukanuba Natural. Service dog was on Eukanuba 30/20 so switched my adults over. Never had any problems.
My 9 year old still on E30/20 and still very active, still works on the field, still runs, still jumps through windows etc.; etc.
But again, what works for your dog. Not saying anything that hasn't been said before.

Never use puppy food, we start off on adult Instinct. We also go to 1 meal a day around 5 months.

i use all life stages american natural premium, its a very good food and is very affordable with no wheat, corn, soy in it, with alot of meat i think 25% and that is as high as i want to go on a puppy as i dont want them growing too fast.this food is made at the Fromm factory.

I usually switch from puppy food to adult food at 10 months old.. I personally do not like to feed puppy food to long. I do not feel that the German Shepherd needs a puppy food much past 10 months old.
The one thing I do not like about the ALS foods is that the calcium levels are too high. I am not say all the ALS foods have to high of a calcium/phosphorus ratio... but most do.

I never feed a puppy food, my pups have been weaned to all life stages formula (and/or raw) and when I get them I use whatever food the breeder had for a few weeks and then switch to mine. If the calcium in the ALS is high then I do not feed that exclusively to a puppy. I use 3-4 different foods so if I have a puppy at the time I'll stick to the one with the proper levels for a puppy.

What is the appropriate calcium level for puppies?
I am using acana wild Prarie ALS for five week old puppies and it has 1.3%-1.7% calcium

I feed raw diet to the pups and add 1 dose of homeopathic Calcarea Phosphorica C30 a week/ per dog. When pups are over 6 months they only get Calc. Phos. once a month and depending on the dogs overall constitution I stop giving it at around 11 months.

I saw that everyone was saying mostly almost to a year old. I have a question about my girl...maybe a couple suggestions would be nice.
She is an 8.5 month old GSD already at the average adult height but pretty dang skinny. She definitely hasnt filled out yet. We feed her Fromms puppy food. Should we leave her on puppy formula since shes so skinny or start switching in a little bit?
Thanks.

I start them on adult, and they die on adult. I feed pro plan (had a moment of retardation and fed something else for a bit) and with pro plan never had any weird issues.
