Actually, the videos do have some merit. Because of all the negative reactions, puppy owners who think they have aggressive pups may wise up and learn they don't. I watched these videos last night when they first appeared. Between gagging over all the shit these dogs ran around in, the annoying pager and the labeling of the pup aggressive......sigh.....I was kind of numb....disillusioned....and, yes.....disgusted.
Very scary stuff. How could she not see that the lab was overly tolerant.....especially after Molly (that was her name, I think) finally had enough in the third video and put the pup in his place. Bet those two little scrappers told him off earlier.
The puppy is blowing you off, Leif. You took all the fun away. Ever hear of the term one-on-one. Honestly, it's sad. And.....who's Susan? Is she Rambo's owner? If she is, you've given her a bad impression of this pup. NOT fair. WAY too early to be given a definite label of ANY kind. He wanted to play, and he's mouthy. Maybe you should focus your attention on those pasterns. They would concern me more than your take on this baby. And, please, stop annoying him.

oh yeah like I suspected.... she is trying to drum up business at the poor pups expense with this ad on her website. FL get ready for tons of issue dogs being dumped after she "trains" them.
"
We offer training for all breeds large and small and have developed a successful training program using the revolutionary pager collar from Dogtra. This training allows for precise off leash control and is useful in solving even the most severe behavior problems the collar is included in all training programs About Turn Pager Training. Please feel free to call or e-mail with any questions. "
and omg its a family scam enterprise with the crud her relative is hawking that "cures" cancer with an immune booster product.

IMO, I worry about someone who puts the words SHOCK in quotation marks with regard to puppy training....Then disappears and will not give account to her actions to others with puppy training experience......BIG RED LIGHT...IMO......: (

I find it also irritating that her site is hawking pups but all she will post is what I assume purchased studs and none of her breeding females infos are available. I suspect huge puppy mill breeding operation and it needs to be looked in to.

I think the "pager" (vibrate) feature of the Dogtra is being used instead of the electric-stim--except where she said she used the "nick" stim button. Which would be why "shock" is in quotes.
But again, what's the point?
If you're using the pager to signal the come command, why not just use the command and give the puppy time to react before hitting the pager button? In which case, you'd be using the pager as a negative, not as a signal. At any rate, I'd hope I'd get at least that good of a response from a young puppy with just the food reward and without need for the collar.
As far as aggressive prey drive in the puppy? No--just a puppy who wants to play.

Well, that is quite the sales technique.....However, she still has not responded to the posts on her thread....That says a lot IMO.......: (

Right, that's what I'm saying. It was the pager function but in order to get people up in arms and looking at / talking about it, she used the shock & puppy hook.

Personally I would not use an ecollar on any puppy. The GSD puppy in the video certainly didn't demostrate any aggression and did not have over-the-top prey drive. I guess she doesn't know dogs as well as she thinks she does. Too bad for the puppy.
If this is a sales pitch, it couldn't be any worse. If her goal in posting this was to "rev up" the board, she succeeded - YAY her. She also succeeded in losing any credibility she might still have had here. Wow.

Training should be about fun and building the bond between dog and handler. Training is not cutting a drivey, playful puppy loose with other dogs and cutting off their fun through constant negative reinforcement. This puppy, one on one, would be ridiculously easy to train due to his obvious drive and sociability. At 12 weeks he already shows avoidance, as does the lab.
I will use a shock collar as well, here are some of my cardinal rules:
The dog must have prior obedience training to at least the beginner off lead level.
The dog must be 12 months or older.
(These two rules are to ensure the dog has the maturity and knowledge to handle and understand the strong correction an e-collar gives)
Never use an e-collar on dogs with extreme fear issues. (You will worsen them)
Never shock a dog out of a stay. (Your stays go clean down the toilet)
Never shock a dog away from people or other dogs. (The dog will often react negatively toward the nearest person/dog)
You must always use lavish praise the moment the dog respond to the correction. (This is to ensure the dog understands not only the incorrect behavior but also the correct one. Note all the recalls where the puppy stopped halfway and did not want to complete the exercise and needed another page/nick.)
I'm sure some people here will disagree with my rules, but please remember these are my rules for pet owners who are using a shock collar to control a certain behavior, not experienced "working dog" people.
A trained dog is a dog who responds because it wants to, and in the back of their head knows they must. Not a dog who responds because they have no choice but no desire, either.
