I was going to say similar, Crheurta...

Jonah, your writing reads like a good Scottish brogue...I have no trouble reading it, though I do have to read a bit slower to catch it all, but nothing wrong with it!  No intention to hijack the thread, either, carry on.

Hello,

We are not aware of anywhere that is offering a DNA test for epilepsy at the moment – it is something that our Research department are currently looking at, in a few breeds of dog.

This was th answer that I received from the AHA when i asked about a test. I bred the bitch that you are all slagging off and her mother is still going strong at 11. Her sister and brother are with me and her sisters offspring are all healthy and have shown no signs of epilepsy at all.

since you profess to be so knowledgable about the old dogs, tell me which dogs in the pedigree carry the epilepsy gene and where you have got the PROOF from. nobody can prove it as you said yourself there is no test. epilepsy can start for lots of reasons and the only way it can be diagnosed is by a blood test from the dog that suffers from it not from its parents of grandparents.

jonah 1.yes i,m curious about that one.believe me .is it a dog in the 1st-5th generation or way back.im curious as my foundation bitch has 5 lines back to quadrille of eveley and others, albeit  very very way back over the 10th generation.cant be sure could be further back than then.one of my others(not bred from, not coz of the lines just never got around to hip scoring her)and she has 25 lines.no signs yet of epilepsy and she,s now 7,no signs in her dam,now aged nearly 10.most of my animals have lived into double figures and no signs of any inherited health probs.Cancer has been the reason for my bitches deaths.males, conditions brought on by old age.my archie just dropped dead shortly after he,d eaten his evening meal aged 13.malcolm willis has stated in his book that breeders were too over cautious in respect of some excellent animals that had lines to epileptic producers.im not condoning people who have litters from the same sire or dam who have produced it as these animals quite rightly SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE BREEDING PROGRAM.Carole S.i

OW CAN YA BE  >TOO  OVER CAUTIOUS<  WEN THAR IS MOR THAN 40 LINES TA PRODUCERS IN A LOT O PEDIGREES AYE !.

WEN WILLIS WROTE HIS BOOK THER WER NA AS MANY DOGS BRED BAK TA THA SAME LINES AS NOW AYE !

IF WILLIS WER TO WRITE THA BOOK  AGIN NOW HE WULD BE CHANGIN AN UPDATIN IT AYE !.

ALL YA OSTRICHES GO ASK THA EXPERTS ABOUT THA ACCUMILATIN EPILEPTIC LINES ------CHRIS HAZEL --- DOROTHY CULLUM --- SHIELA RANKIN --- ETC ETC , OR AR YA GOING TA CALL THEM LIERS TOO --- THEY WI TELL YA RIGHT ENUFF BUT YA DONT WANNA HEAR THA TRUTH AYE !!!!!.
