Ace, fair enough.  I couldn't tell that by the opening statement without assuming, so I didn't.

GSDPACK, 2 to 5 years, SVV1, yes and no.  It was a blanket statement about the dog's I've imported, without going into a lot of erroneous detail.  It's hard to accept the training mistakes of others, or shoddy work done in haste.  Better to do it yourself than to fix something you don't like.

My dog is not mediocre , he is just poorly trained by previous owner LOL

When what you expect from the dog for a SVV is not an equivalent translation to the training and grading of SchH sport, there can be some difficulties that would not occur if starting from scratch.  You can not fairly judge the dog's quality by their training (or it's context).  Even "mediocre" dogs can be trained well, and that means nothing to me either.  The training is NOT the dog.

Daryl,
You can not fairly judge the dog's quality by their training (or it's context). Even "mediocre" dogs can be trained well, and that means nothing to me either. The training is NOT the dog.

You have to test and evaluate the dog thoroughly.  When done systematically you can tell what is the dog and what is the training.  The good and bad in the dog and the training will show through or be exposed.  When I test "green" Police K-9 prospects I can quickly tell how much and what kind of training the dog has had.  I can tell what style of sport the dog was started in whether it was SchH or Ring, etc.  Since there is no such thing as a "green" dog these days; when tested properly the true traits of the dog come out and you see the dog from the training.

I didn't say you couldn't tell the dog from the training, just that you can't judge it by the training.  But do you require a dog to be titled or not when you evaluate it for your working program?  In most cases I'd really prefer a clean slate, and I'd imagined you would too.

So my question is:

would you rather buy a dog titled in Germany?

or

would you rather buy a dog titled here in the US?

or both?

Are they are N few inbetween to have both?

Daryll , I actually kept four females of a litter I bred last year and did absolutely NOTHING with them , just to see what they bring naturally , started testing them around ten months
now Im going to sell two and keep two , but chances are one of them will be bred before she will be titled

It depends on who the breeder is overseas and it depends on who the breeder here is in the U.S.

lol...Its like this question that was posed to Anthony Bourdain on a tv show....

"If you had to choose between a great meal and mediocre sex, which would you choose?"

His response.....".....it depends on who's cooking and who's f*cking"

Yeah, that question would depend on a lot of variables, least of all which country for me.  Maybe even the "kind" of title, because of the style of training the dog was found to have a greater aptitude for (ie, doggie dancehall queen vs. an MR1).

Duke, I held three females from my last litter.  The fourth was prone to dog aggression, and needed to go asap to a single dog home.  Of the three I kept, I'm elated with the results, and would not trade them for any other females I have formerly owned or produced, titled or not.  I'm still working on producing that male I want, possibly from a repeat of that breeding, or from an equally exciting prospective female belonging to an associate of mine.
