Daily charges that are listed are for day time care right?

because here when i left 3 of my dogs for a week it was $745.00 that comes out to be about $35.00 for 24 hrs. versus daily rate of $20.00 + $5.00 for one on one attention for 2 hrs.

So if you are keeping dog over night thats a higher rate....however if that dog is in your house for months....even at $10.00 a day is still comes out $300.00 a month and after 3 months thats $900.00...I think a lot depends on the lenght of stay and how needy is the dog....

P.S. Melba I may be using you in the future... if thats all you charge... :p

Hey Jen  I just paid 25.00 a day formy Border Collie to stay with my trainer for 2 weeks( Jules offered to board my shepherds, but he has his hands full with you know who, so they stayed with grandma and grandpa).  The breeder says she will take them any time no charge or nominal fee, but she works long hours which means lots of crate time for the dogs :(  Although they are exercised daily multiple times.  My trainer took her and she fit right in with their pack so she had lots of Border Collie fun.  Even traveled in their motor home with them for two trials.  It was well worth 25 a day for the peace of mind, but I couldn't afford that long term:(

You've all been very helpful; thanks. I'm not worried about these people paying...I'd honestly be surprised if he can even part with her for that long and doesn't change his plans entirely, lol. This owner is like every breeder's dream home for their pups. They don't live anywhere near me and would be shipping or bringing her to me because they don't trust anyone else with her. People who pay to ship a dog halfway across the country for their peace of mind typically would pay their bills, but I would definitely write up something to cover accident, illness, etc. I'm not insured, of course, since I don't have a boarding kennel, so I would need something to cover myself in case of worst case scenario.

Lyn, I have no idea what you could be talking about. I think Jules is just lazy. I sent him a pushbutton couch potato.

Elkoorr, Apache and the gang are more then welcome :) Also, if you need a closer tracking area, we have 6 acres of lawn and the use of 2500 acres of fields (some plowed, some with vegetation)  :)

LadyFrost, we'd be happy to have the gang as well :) I know you're a bit (or a lot) farther south, but we could probably arrange to pick up.

Melissa, how about mine? I'm in Chicago of course, but I think it's still cheaper, even if I ship them. LOL

Jenni,
If you could drive them to Lexington, KY I'd be happy to meet ya. That's about half way between Lexington, NC and Chicago and I'm
sure what I would charge would come out WAY less then shipping :) Yours are welcome here as well LOL

When I looked into it 3 years ago when we drove to CA to visit my mom (RIP)
a local vet charged $12 a day.  I asked if they could cut me a break since all 3 Poms could be in one kennel, no go.  So we ended up taking Emma and Squirt and Teddy stayed with a neighbor.  In fact, they fell in love with him and asked if they could keep him!     Carly stayed here in the back yard and a neighbor checked on her every day.

Jenn:

I charge $13.00 a day for my germans that  I have sold only. ONly my customers do I board for a week or two. or at any time..I am not open to any public.
I do board my Deacon from my church's Maltese , in the house, with all kinds of things I have to do , like brush its teeth , brush, clean tears off cheeks and walk and entertain and I charge $15.00 a day and they leave her for weeks at a time as they travel and are retired .

My vet and others charge 15.00 a day for the larger dog and you supply food etc.
I require the same..Bring toys, and food.

MY gsd get exercise in their kennels..Mine are under cover , under trees on concrete with lights and electricity with fans if need be.
