Thank you Judy for the PM. Very helpful information. It would be so nice if I can figure it out as my reproduction vet is 45 mins from me and the to and from every few days for bloodwork is a pain in the butt! I am waiting for one of my girls to come into season and I will try the strips along with progesterone tests ( I really cant miss another breeding with her) and let you know how I make out. Thanks again!

Good luck to you gsdland. Let us know if the strips work for you.

I'd go with Judy, breed the day after the strip turns colour. The sperm will last up to 4 days, sometimes even longer. But the ova are only viable for a short window. Granted, after ovulation, the ova must mature and can be fertilized by the sperm only when they are mature. This will be between 24 to 48 hours after ovulation. So if you breed the day after a positive result, if all is well, you should get puppies.

I believe that the Brit pads are purchased from Wysong but I can't say for sure. Don't buy from the British site. My last order never arrived and the owner of the site refused to send a replacement order. You can buy the Wysong product from Revival Animal a lot cheaper than from the Brit site. Go here: http://www.revivalanimal.com/store/p/2543-Estrus-Test-Strips.aspx They are called estrus test strips made by Wysong. Both have equal success.
There is a lot of good informaiton on the British site at: www.ovulationpads.info.

Our first litter using the strips arrived yesterday produced 8 puppies. I waited 3 days then bred her that was late for Denni as I got 6 males 2 female pups. Bred early you have a chance of getting more females, bred late more chance of getting males.

You bred 3 days from the first time you saw color or you waited until no color and bred 3 days from then? Congrats on your litter!
