I'm not sure what the question is at this point. I really do not want to argue if Mals are better than GSDs. They are both GREAT dogs IMO they are two of the best breeds in the world. A great Malinois is an incredible animal. A great GSD is an incredible animal. If I were you I would be more focused on finding a great dog than worrying about which breed is best. IMO a Malinois can be harder to handle than a GSD but thats not always the case. What it boils down to is what best fits your personality. Maybe what you want is a Dutch Shepherd which is sort of in between a Mali and GSD. Size, bite pressure, size of their balls, etc. doesn't make much difference. The size of their heart does however.

As they say it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog Gsd's , Malis and Dutch shepherds all great working dogs. More importantly is the handlers ability to handle the dog and match the right dog to the right handler. Example:
someone who was used to working lower drive lets say show dog shouldnt run out and get a high drive Mali.
I have been blessed to have owned all 3 breeds and personally all things considered equal, I would prefer a Gsd as the complete package. Mali second, and Dutchie 3rd. All loyal great dogs JMHO

"there are only two breeds of dogs one a German Shepherd and the other who want to be a German Shepherd" So you can have an endless discussion but remember if you truly know the GSD you cannot stand another dog breed.

LOL  Doesn't EVERY breed of dog have their die hard fans that say this about their preferred breed?  I know I've heard Malinois owners say it about Malinois, and DS owners say it about DS, and ...

Believe it or not, there are actually people out there who have no desire to own a GSD.  Over the years I've owned Malinois, Tervuren, Rottweiler, Doberman, Beauceron, AST, APBT, Boxer, Giant Schnauzer and I've handled (didn't own them, but I trained them for Protection and worked with them every day for months) Great Dane, Dogo, Am Bulldog, GSD, GSP (didn't work so well as PPD LOL), Dalmation (also didn't work so well), many more of the previously mentioned breeds.  I'm sure I'm missing a few breeds.  And I still have no desire to every own a GSD.  Absolutely nothing against the breed, I enjoy watching a good one, but they aren't the breed for me.

//Doesn't EVERY breed of dog have their die hard fans that say this about their preferred breed?// originally it was said about GSD and than taken by other breeds lovers.

This was a study done on bite force, but I don't think it included Mals:  http://www.ehow.com/list_6519877_strongest-dog-bites.html .  I love gsds and own three.  I think Mals in general have more energy and are are more agile.  Both are very capable working dogs so I agree that it boils down to personal preference.

Honestly, what's with the bite pressure comparisons? Who cares? They're both going to hurt like hell. This thread isn't going to solve anything for the OP. We could all argue about our favorite colors, but it is the OP's duty to go out and experience both breeds before making a decision.

See that i think about the both breeds. *1 Health: belgian malinois is healthier breed than german shepherd but yet german shepherd is fairly healthy breed. *2 Affection level: affection level of german shepherd is much more higher than affection level of belgian malinois. animal.discovery.com{a site from discovery(tv channel) networks} gives german shepherd 3 stars out of 5 for affection level but for belgian malinois only 1 star out of 5. So trusting Discovery channel, german shepherd is more affectionate than belgian malinois. *3 Power: german shepherd is bigger in size and more in mass than belgian malinois so german shepherd supposes to be more powerful or stronger. *4 Agile: belgian malinois is more agile than german shepherd. *5 Energy level: belgian malinois has more energy level than german shepherd but still german shepherd has enough energy level to do police or military work. *6 Availability : finding a good german shepherd is much more tougher job than finding a good belgian malinois. But doing the tougher job of finding good german shepherd worth it totally. *7 Pet: german shepherd is a better pet as it has higher level of affection level than belgian malinois(animal.discovery.com says so, its a site of Discovery Channel networks). And one another reason for german shepherd to be a better pet is german shepherd requires less amount of exercise than belgian malignis but belgian malinois can also be good pet provided that you give them enough exercise. *8 Speed : Belgian Malinois is more fast runner than german shepherd. *9 Looks : it depends upon the individual preference but for me, German shepherd looks far better than Belgian Malinois. *9 police / military work : both are equally good in my eyes.

So, have you decided what your preference is Manjeet?

I think Manjeet knew what their preference was before they even posted.

And Discovery channel?  Just because someone says it's true on TV, doesn't mean it really is, there information is only as good as the few people they interviewed for their show.   The Malinois I know, mine and friends, are very affectionate with their owners.

Larry Filo told me a long time ago when I lost Konig and wanted a new male, Jan , you cannot handle a Malinois....and he meant the ones he would sell..

That is all I needed to know..
