Actually my sister in law is quite submissive to my brother in law, it's a very strong tenet of the church they have belonged to for the past 13 years. She does not make dinner without his approval of the menu, she makes no decisions about the family without his approval, she does not speak ill of him in anyway -even good natured marital teasing-. If he makes a law in the household she does not question it and if he accompanies the family on any outings she expresses her gratitude for his company in coming out with them.
As she is a college educated woman and otherwise quite happy and go lucky it always trips me up when I see these things crop up whenever we're all together for family time but it is what it is and the wording is quiet clear. The wife is to be submissive to the husband in all things as he is the head of the household and she is subservient to him.
They tried to recruit my husband and I to their church back in the day but that wasn't going to happen. I'm too much of a hard headed bitch to withstand such corrections without coming back up the leash at someone.

Yah, that gets my back up too. I'd have to have a great, wise husband, father, leader - than I'd submit.
I know it keeps peace in the family, but I'm not much for following someone over a cliff, and that is where we'd be going.

Yes Maggie it should be 50/50.
